Devils team scope: Cory Schneider will start in goal, and New Jersey coach John Hynes told reporters after practice Wednesday he's mulling possible lineup changes. They could include switches up front and on the back end, with defenseman Eric Gelinas a possibility to re-enter the lineup. "We're going to discuss [the lineup]," Hynes told NJ.com. "Finish up some of the video and kind of analyze some individual performances and see if a change will give us a better chance to win." The Devils are 7-1-0 when scoring at least three goals and 1-5-1 when scoring fewer than three, including a 2-0 loss Tuesday against the St. Louis Blues.

Blackhawks team scope: Crawford will start in goal. Only three of Chicago's 21 goals during 5-on-5 play this season have been scored without forwards Artemi Panarin, Artem Anisimov or Patrick Kane on the ice. Coach Joel Quenneville put those three back together in a 4-2 win against the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday, and they played a role in all four goals. "We might have a couple goals between the other three lines over the course of the season, 15 games," Quenneville said Wednesday. "That's not going to get it done." Forward Brandon Mashinter was recalled from Rockford of the American Hockey League. He skated on the fourth line in practice. Andrew Shaw moved up to left wing on the top line, while Teuvo Teravainen skated at right wing on the third line. Teravainen left practice early, but is expected to play.

According to TG, Tlusty is the odd man out in the morning skate:

There is one change with the forwards as Stefan Matteau has taken Jiri Tlusty's place at left wing on the third line with Jacob Josefson and Jordin Tootoo. Matteau has been a healthy scratch the last seven games. Tlusty, who has been bothered by a right shoulder injury, appears to be the extra forward.

Looks like we have MOAR O'Neill. :sarcasm:

...and a Matteau sighting....

Cue the Monty Python "I'm not dead, yet.." with O'Neill face gif.

Every coach seems to have their ****** player that they love.

Doesn't seem like Hynes loves O'Neill. Farnham maybe.

O'Neill just seems to be a place keeper for now, doesn't hurt you too much so you don't really care if he's not improving. There's not really any better options and you rather develop your young guys then play them where he is.

I don't mind Tlusty getting an extended break because he doesn't look like his usual self out there. I don't think he's fully healthy yet.

Give Matts a shot, hope he plays well and then pushes O'Neill out when Tlusty is 100%.

Hopefully there's more sad CM Punk tweets tonight than there were the last time we defeated played Chicago.
