I'm a big fan of the original format (W-L-T and 1-8 playoff format). So I conducted what it would have looked like this year. Anything that went to a SO ended in a tie. No loser points. Thought you guys would like to take a look.

It's important to note that teams attempted to optimize their point total under the current points structure, and that they would have different incentives under the old structure.

It's important to note that teams attempted to optimize their point total under the current points structure, and that they would have different incentives under the old structure.

Ottawa would be an example of this. Boucher specifically stated at least once when asked post game, that they were playing the 3on3 to a tie intentionally as he felt they had better chances in the SO to win.
