Mike Harrington was just on wgr55, and suggested the Sabres will be like the Penguins when they drafted Lemeiux.....It took the Pens 7 years to make the playoffs after they drafted Mario....

What do you guys think ?

Different eras...in the salary cap, higher parity era that simply is not comparable.

The Sabres have far better and more assets that will surround whoever is drafted too. The early/mid 80s Penguins had about 4 legitimate NHL caliber players on those rosters.

It'll be closer to the Penguins after drafting Sid.

Pens fan here. That stat is wrong. We made it in 1989. And that is just off-hand naming a year.
