Penguins lineups TBA

Stats:

Season series: The Pittsburgh Penguins were 2-0-0 against the Edmonton Oilers last season. Goalie Marc-Andre Fleury made 22 saves in a 2-0 win at Rexall Place on Feb. 15. After blowing a 4-0 lead, Steve Downie and Patric Hornqvist scored 1:06 apart to give the Penguins a 6-4 victory March 15 at Consol Energy Center. Pittsburgh center Sidney Crosby had four points (goal, three assists).

Penguins team scope: Pittsburgh was expecting to face Edmonton's Connor McDavid for the first time, but McDavid sustained a fractured left clavicle Tuesday. "I was looking forward to playing against him, honestly," center Eric Fehr told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review after practice Thursday. "There's been a lot of hype the past couple years. He's one of the up-and-coming stars. It's always fun playing against those guys." Forward David Perron, who scored his first goal in 24 games Wednesday, has embraced his blue-collar role on a line with center Evgeni Malkin. "My job when I play with [Malkin and Phil Kessel] is to get in on the forecheck, work hard and get pucks back to them," Perron said. "That's what I did Wednesday. I have to keep doing that." Pittsburgh has won five straight and is 8-1-0 after starting the season with three losses. Fleury has won seven straight against the Oilers with a 2.15 goals-against average.

Oilers team scope: Edmonton will play its first game without McDavid, who is out indefinitely, but forward Jordan Eberle will make his season debut after being sidelined with a shoulder injury sustained in a preseason game Sept. 29. "I'm as ready as I'm going to be," said Eberle, who skated to the right of Taylor Hall and Leon Draisaitl at practice Thursday. Draisaitl was moved to his natural center position from right wing on a line with Hall and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins that combined for 20 points in the past three games. "We have to look at the rest of the team and we can't rely on one line," coach Todd McLellan said. Nugent-Hopkins took McDavid's place at center between Benoit Pouliot and Nail Yakupov. "I've played with Pouliot a little bit last year and really enjoyed playing with him, and we had some success at the end of last year," Nugent-Hopkins said. "It was fun, so hopefully, the chemistry picks up from there."

Over the last 9 games (editing out the nightmarish 0-3 and 0-4 starts the clubs had respectively), the Penguins and the Oilers have been pretty similar in terms of possession (15th and 16th in the league respectively).

There are a few interesting little parallel's with the Oilers and Penguins this season.

EDIT: Also, nice job on the GDT OilerPensfan97.

Shouldn't it be Pilers not Poilers?
Or maybe it should be Openguins instead of Oinguins.

Anyways if you are just swapping the first letter it should be "Pilers vs. Oenguins"

Nice GDT though.

So, scoring goals is no problem for you guys. It's preventing them? Going to be fun game with two talented offenses lining against. Even if McDavid is out and Crosby struggles. Still, a whole lot of firepower in those two squads.

Think they are going to bust their butts to show they are a real team and are decent without mcjesus.

Crosby will break out of his slump with a 4-point night.

I Hope the Oilers have enough firepower to overcome that.

Wow, I really like those lines actually. People were talking about Poo-Nuge-Ebs and Hall-Drai-Yak but I actually like these lines better. The thought of Hall-Drai-Ebs just makes me drool and hopefully Nuge can step in on that 2nd line and continue where McDavid left off.

Also pretty funny that we have 3 guys with more points than the leading scorer on a Pens team that has Malkin, Crosby and Kessel. Not to mention Drai has more points in 3 games than Crosby has in 12... :biglaugh:

I have a good feeling about this one. 4-2 Oil.

Eberle is gonna remind some people why he was missed for the first few games of the season.
I see him and Hall both good for a goal and an assist.

Yak's gonna get one too. So is Korpse.

If we win this game by a blowout, remind yourself, we are missing McDavid and Schultz.

This is game number two of our incoming 5 game win streak.

I'm betting both top lines score at least 1 and we win by 2 or more.

Everyone needs to watch the highlights from the last game before we go any further.

So. Many. Goals.

hope the boys put up a solid win. i also think hall wants to prove he is still a big part of this team and will want to show it to everyone.having ebs back should be a huge boost ,plays very well with hall and can do some serious damage himself.also think that nurse and drai have played really well thus far,big test for nurse tonight

I think we'll get an idea of how ready Draisaitl is playing C when he has to match up constantly against Crosby and/or Malkin tonight. May the Force Be With You, young Jedi.
