Are the Oilers actually a good team this year?

So far... so good.

Too many decent games in a row to not call them a good team at this stage.

Could change of course if they stop playing hard, tough, aggressive hockey... but could change in the positive direction as well if more players start producing and the team starts firing on all cylinders.

Right now they are above average and trending upwards.

The scheduling Gods gave us Detroit and decided, that's enough easy teams for awhile, back to difficult. haha

Problem is that there aren't that many truly "bad" teams so far this year. Only LA, Florida and Detroit are well behind the pack; everyone else is mostly around Bettman .500 or higher.

Washington technically isn't even that good so far.

The scheduling Gods should at least go easy on us and have us stop facing so many 100+ point teams. :(

Theres really not that many easy teams in the league anymore. Every team in the league plays the same teams.

Beside Europe then the long trip in the east to start the season, our schedule is just normal compared to everyone else.

Technically Washington isn't even a great team this year, so far anyways.

Hoping the 4th line can keep it going. They've looked fantastic ever since the Kassian trade rumor.
Cagguila playing like Gallagher right now. Chiasson and Reider heating up. Tobias has quietly been a consistent producer so far.

Every line is starting to click, except for the 3rd line. Lucic-Strome-Puljujarvi is such a terrible combination. Lucic has looked unmotivated and Strome has zero points. Unacceptable. Yamamoto has shown signs of chemistry with Strome, he should've been with him since the start instead of being thrown into the wolves on the top line against team's best dmen. It would benefit both of them and the team.

Replace JP, who needs to be in the AHL anyway, with Marody and that line will already look much better.
