Subban was a 2nd rounder, as was Weber if I remember correctly. 2nd round prospects are still considered good, they may just have a different learning curb than others.

There are lots of 2nd round picks that haven't been signed from the 2012 draft yet. It means pretty much nothing. You don't need to sign a player immediately after their draft, you just need to sign them before they play with you, and before the time to sign them runs out which is I think 3 years? It isn't necessary the 1st 2 years after the draft for most players as they still play in the CHL

Rielly was the only pick from that draft that we had signed yet. Many teams still haven't signed their 1st rounder

I don't think the poster was talking about why we picked him so late but why we signed him so late(1 year, 5 months after he was drafted) which is completely normal really

Wow, never realized it has been this bad. No wonder we are so inclined to trade them. Probably won't get another shot to use one until at least 2016.
