St. Louis area is full of great craft breweries other than Schlafly. Civil Life, Urban Chestnut, 4 Hands, and Perennial are some bigger ones, just off the top of my head. Many opening all the time. It's not, say, San Francisco or Denver, but the craft beer scene goes way beyond Schlafly and is growing as quickly as anywhere else. Nashville is good for beer, no doubt, but St. Louis is comparable to almost any other city in middle America for beer. Chicago, Minneapolis, Austin, you name it, St. Louis is right there.
And that's absolutely not some "local pride" crap. I've lived in places with good and bad craft beer and know huge beer fans around the nation who agree that the beer around here is already noteworthy and is on the rise.
