Stars host Canucks in battle of former division rivals

DALLAS -- The Vancouver Canucks and Dallas Stars used to be Pacific Division bunkmates. And even though they are now in separate divisions, battles between these former division rivals are always spirited affairs.

Vancouver and Dallas last met on Nov. 13 at Rogers Arena with the Canucks taking the full two points thanks to a 5-4 overtime win.

Coming back with Miller, but this arena hasn't been kind to him in the past....he's going to be facing a lot more pucks and quality scoring chances than he did in Phoenix....key will be surviving the first 10 minutes.

i'm happy we finally beat dallas for the first time in years...and it was perfectly poetic that we overcame a 2 goal deficit in the 3rd to win in OT. that's been the classic way we've been losing to them for like 2 years now.

long story short: don't care what happens from here on out...we beat them once, that's all i wanted.

Errr....

Dallas has never been in the same division as the Nucks.

Minnesota North Stars were.

I don't remember the Stars ever being a division rival to be honest.

I remember a pretty entertaining playoff series a couple of years back, but that's pretty much it for any recent history.

Love the WOV, there Chairman Maouth. Used to be a big fan.

Anyway, Canucks on a roll now...

4-2
Hutton, Baertschi, Horvat and Daniel.

They should change their names to golden stars to try to stay current. Or, they could grow mustaches and become the porn stars? Taking new names like, Rejean Ardonne would be too much, I guess. It's unworkable. I have other ideas, though. What about riding the Sedins and just let them take care of all the scoring?

And per usual, Miller gets the starter's job while Marky is left to enjoy the tired and deflated (probably) D on the backend of a b2b. Just one of numerous hints that this is a "competing" team.

Stecher scores today.

I'm feeling goals from Baertschi (bounces are finally going his way) and Eriksson (vs. his former club) today.

I don't feel optimistic about us winning this one, though.

I spoke too soon.  Baertschi out tonight with a foot injury. Megna will skate in his place on the Horvat line, and the Canucks have recalled Grenier from Utica. Woof.

Crappy time for Baertschi to get injured given that it looked like he was starting to get his confidence back. Hopefully it's a short-term thing.
