When this team wants to, they can be pretty good. Maybe not elite, but still good. Not sure what's going on where they have these periods of play where they just turn off the power and let teams grab what they can.

Good question. This is something we need to get to the bottom of because we're way too inconsistent. To not get any points out of tonight with a lead going into the 3rd is a troubling trend. Dominate Nashville in the 1st period, and then fall asleep. Play some real good hockey against Toronto, and then blow a 3rd period lead. Bad first period to Seattle. Another blown lead to Columbus. It's like every game there's a period that dooms us. I was hoping the Carolina game would be a turning point. Obviously not to get shutouts every game, but at least understand and get rewarded for doing the right things.

Tomkins has been fine, none of those goals were softies.

Both of not Vassies have been very decent. Goalkeeping is not the problem so far. But there certainly are problems.

Split Glendening and Merela, they're a net nothing, don't get scored on but don't do anything either. Can always go back to them we just want some guys out there to kill time while the scoring guys rest, our 4th line is pretty useless at the moment.

Yeah, Tompkins is not NHL material. But I think we all knew that going into the season.

Agreed. The team should obviously know too that Tomkins was originally slated for Syracuse and only has now 2 NHL starts under his belt. More the reason for them to lock it in for these games when he does start.

And Coop was careful making sure he got in against a team like Columbus where he shouldn’t be overwhelmed compared to throwing him out against a powerhouse like Boston or Vegas.

The defense has been garbage all year, Hedman and Sergachev's defensive game is ass, Perbix regressed, De Hann a noticeable downgrade over Cole. Raddysh is probably the only guy playing above his paygrade which.... is sad.

Point and Kucherov 2 points combined in the last 3 games. If these two don't produce this season, we're not getting into the playoffs

The stars don't produce and the defense looks like ghosts. At least half of the team show lack of energy and looks like some kind of leadership is gone. Some people don't like the 4th line guys but in times like this, is when Maroon, Perry or those kind of players put a voice in the looker room.
But pointing the D, is by far the worse situation and contrary to some opinions don't think Vassy helps when he's back. Hedman looks like tired out there but my concern is Sergachev and Cernak both get lot of money to be next main D in the future and both are showing an AHL level, it's worrying. Never expect much from Perbix and Raddysh, they're here only for cap problems. De Hann is another cheap D signed to do something, like Fleury. Bogo is not favored by Cooper. Sadly, we will have a long season, hope we can make the playoffs.
