Wild Begins Divisional Stretch Against Avalanche
Three straight games, four of next five will be against Central Division foes
by Dan Myers @1DanMyers / Wild.com

The Minnesota Wild will try and get its offense on track against the Colorado Avalanche at 7 p.m. Saturday night at Xcel Energy Center.

Minnesota has been involved in back-to-back 1-0 games, losing to the Calgary Flames on Tuesday before winning by the same margin against the Boston Bruins on Thursday. Both contests were at home.

The Wild, which ranked first in the NHL in goals scored as recently as two weeks ago, has dipped to 18th in the NHL entering play on Friday.

Despite a lack of finish, the Wild has been the League's stingiest defensive team. It's 29 goals allowed are the fewest in the NHL and its plus-13 goal differential is the best in the Western Conference.

Seems like the Avs are kind of starting to get a foothold against us. I'd like to see a convincing victory tonight to swing things firmly back in our direction.

I predict we go down 6-0, then have a dramatic final goal with 3 seconds left in the third for a 7-6 win. The psychological effect of that loss for the Avs will result in them losing 17 of their next 21 games, causing Sakic to be fired, Yeo to be hired away from the Blues as GM, and Landeskog to be caught in a shootout with Denver police( even though he is only carrying a water pistol) after a drunken binge ending up in a crime spree where he holds up a series of gas stations for their Cheetos and Snickers bars.

Then Brodin wins the Norris? :yo:

No Duchene or Landeskog for the Avs tonight. Easy win, right?

Pickard was the problem last time we played Colorado. Goal-scoring in general has dried up for the Wild this month.

No such thing as an easy win. Colorado will play more defensively with those 2 out. There will definitely be less shenanigans though.

Well, at least there will be fewer offensively talented players to worry about. And the scoring drought has to end at some point, right?

Russo - Boudreau on the PP:
The Wild's power play this season is 6 for 47 (12.8 percent, 24th in the NHL), ranking 12th at home at 21.1 percent and 29th on the road at 7.1 percent.

Asked what the Wild has to do better there, Boudreau said, "Not miss open nets. It seems every game – I know our power-play numbers are horrible, but at the same time every game we have some great looks on the power play. To me it’s a matter of continue doing what you’re doing, but just bury it when you get the opportunity. That becomes a snowball effect. If you get one, you usually get two, and it grows like that.

Good luck, coach! It's been that way for years. Nobody can bury those opportunities.
