:wild @ :stars

In tonight's Suomi primetime game, the Wild (8-7-0) face the Stars (6-6-4).

The Wild have lost too many damn games lately. With Brodin and Scandella likely out of this game, the Wild's blueline depth will be put to true test. In the last game vs the Sabres, the Wild scored six goals, but Darcy Kuemper was replaced by Niklas Bäckström in that game after allowing two goals early in the first period. Nino Niederreiter got his first hattrick in the NHL, so it will be interesting to see if he can build on that and find some consistency.

The Stars' start to the season hasn't been what they hoped. The Stars are currently 6th in the Central Division. The Stars have only won 3 of their last ten games. Earlier this week, Stars traded D Sergei Gonchar to Montréal for F Travis Moen. Stars goaltender Kari Lehtonen shutout the Kings in their last game and he's the likely starter. Also, Lehtonen made one incredible save in that game..

I don't know...I think it might be worth thinking about having Suter and Spurgeon anchor two different pairings to sort of spread the actual talent a little.

So..

Suter-Dumba
Prosser-Spurgeon
Ballard-Falk

Something like that.

That way you've got two pairings with at least some professional stability to them.

As an added bonus, Dumba would get to show what he can do with less sheltered minutes.

Obviously Suter and Spurgeons partners would rotate so as to maximize their minutes and minimize everyone elses. Probably have both of them play close to 30 minutes.

That does sound better than one awesome pairing and two horrible ones.

yeah, but at the same time none of those three pairings will be at all very good, unless some of our 4 scrubs step it up big time.

I'd like to think Suter is good enough to cover for Dumba's defensive mistakes, while Dumba helps the first pairing offensively.

Oh well. We'll see.

Could be. That's almost ideally where he'll be once he develops and can play competent defense and use his offensive skills intelligently.

There was a post in the OT thread about most Minnesotan post ever earlier this week. I think Jarick made it.

This is definitely the most Finnish post on hfboards ever. Wow.

As a side note. Combining a little chunk of goat cheese and a little chunk of steak and eating it together makes for probally the most delicious thing you will ever taste.

Prime time game followed by a midnight game the next day. It doesn't get much better than this.

I have a feeling there'll be significantly more Finns in this thread than Minnesotans.

Meanwhile it's not even 11 am here and I'm still hungover.

Ugh, 1pm is an unholy time for a game on a Saturday when your sleep schedule is so ****ed up you're getting to bed around 7am.
