Well, Gretzky scored 100 NHL goals in one season -- RS and playoffs combined. (Too bad he missed six games that year!)

To expand on that, here's all 90+ goal regular season+playoffs seasons in NHL:

100 (87+13, 93 total GP) Wayne Gretzky 1983-84
97 (92+5, 85 total GP) Wayne Gretzky 1981-82
97 (85+12, 87 total GP) Mario Lemieux 1988-89
97 (86+11, 91 total GP) Brett Hull 1990-91
90 (73+17, 98 total GP) Wayne Gretzky 1984-85
90 (71+19, 91 total GP) Jari Kurri 1984-85

So one time a player has hit 100 goals in a season (reg+playoffs) and three times a player has come really close (97 goals) in the NHL.

Okay, am I the only one who finds these two trivia nuggets rather surprising?

Nobody has ever hit 100 in the OHL...? I know maybe it's a slightly shorter season, and sometimes a rough and tighter-checking League, but still... that surprises me.

And the only guy who has ever done it, with all the legendary players passing through that League, is the legendary... Ernie Godden (5 NHL games career).

Is that the predecessor/former name of the current BCHL? I only looked at BCHL stats so I didn't have that one in there. Good add though.

That's embarrassingly bad. He was steep into his decline by then.

The best answer is when a prime, peak Wayne Gretzky scored 378 goals in 85 games.

Looking at WHL/OHL predecessor leagues, there's one more to add:

Bill Derlago in 1976-77 season had 110 goals (96+14) in regular season+playoffs combined in WCHL.

BCJHL was the "original" name of this league for these purposes. It re-branded as the BCHL in 1990. There's some distinction between the league histories in 1997, but I don't readily know what that distinction is unfortunately...

???

That doesn't answer the question at all. I can look up player profiles on eliteprospects on my own, thanks.

Relax I didn't even have a sip of caffeine at that point in the morning.

It's the same league since the 70s at least.
