- QUOTES -

STEVEN STAMKOS
: "It's always great to see some of the young guys and how they've progressed, and how their transition is going, but usually at this time of the preseason, the last 3 games, Coop usually likes to get the roster pretty close to what it's going to be for opening night and have guys try to get some chemistry here. You can tell it's getting close. This is always the final stretch of the preseason and we're looking forward to sharpening up some areas we've changed some things in, some systems this year, and you just want to try to perfect them as much as you can."

"You need some young guys in the system. I know we've traded a lot of young guys away and traded picks away, and that's the price you pay for winning and having success. We've loss some good players over the years, so it needs to come from somewhere. I think those guys have stepped up and have been given expanded roles. They have no choice but to go with them, and they have. Give them credit. I think guys have had great summers, and look way more comfortable now. There's some other young guys that are pushing as well. It's always fun to see their transition throughout their careers. Ultimately whether they make the opening night roster or not, there's a good chance we're going to see them at some point during the season, and that's what our coaching staff harps on. Just be ready, and it looks like they are."

NICK PAUL: "You realize how quickly it's coming up. We've made some cuts, everyone's pushing the pace at camp, and now this is what we have for numbers, and it's coming down to the wire. It's nice because it's easier to bond. ... Hockey's a dangerous sport. You need to be able to trust the guy you're going out with. If something does happen, you want to trust that he has your back, and that's a big part of team bonding. Getting to know somebody, feeling comfortable."

Sucks for fans from the Orlando area that they won’t get to see Vasy, Hedman, Kuch, Point, or Stammer at this years game.

Competition continues for Fortier, ABB, Merela, and Watson

We're used to watching ECHL players who cant make a breakout pass to save their lives and prefer to just blindly send it up the wall every zone exit. This will still be a massive improvement.

What OSB couldn't really do last year was make a pass across the royal road that resulted in a quick shot.

I must say I've missed Mishkin's calls--(not so much his GOAL!!). He's very good at highlighting the important features of the play at specific points in time. Didn't listen to much radio PBP in Tampa, but he's working the feeds I am accessing here. He and Phil are very entertaining, to say the least.
