Zach Bogo appreciation thread

[Carltons Cup]

We rarely ever mention this guy, but he deserves a ton of credit. He's not flashy or an offensive juggernaut. He's steady and provides an element of physicality we haven't had before on the backend.

Not only has Bogo had to adapt to new teammates and a new system, but he's the one defenseman who's had to deal with different partners most nights (Dermy, Lehtonen and Sandin). This alone deserves a lot of credit.

He's done what's been asked of him so far....

Such a massive turnaround from his Leafs debut game.

He’s looked awesome in his role, physical, pretty solid defensively. Exactly what we needed on the back end on the bottom pairing.

The whole D corp has been upgraded...except for Muzzin, who's been just steady as she goes. Holl has been an upgrade of himself. Although not without warts, Reilly looks fleeter of foot. Ceci supposedly the cycle-breaker, but Brodie's been a massive upgrade and worth every penny + able to hold his own in breakouts. Nicest surprise is Bogo, esp at that $ cost. Team D-wise, 200ft commitment from Matthews rubbing off on guys you wouldn't see backchecking in prior years.

I really wish we could play other teams to see how we really stack up.

Bogosian has been a great addition. He doesnt have to do much but be tough to play against. Him and Muzzin can be a great PK duo.

The fact that we don’t talk about him the greatest compliment that you can give to a solid defensive defenseman. Kind of gives us back that big RHD element Polak gave us which the fan base didn’t appreciate at the time, but also seems to have residual higher end skillset so he isn’t quite as unpolished as Polak used to be when it came to handling the puck and making plays. Great addition.

Best #6 we’ve had in forever. A far cry from the days of Ceci, Lebda, and the like who you dreaded seeing hop over the boards.

He’s physical, makes smart passes, and is willing to defend his boys. He was ready to take on Perry for the hit he put on Holl, but in typical Perry fashion he declined.
