A lot of you might be wondering why we would go for Bonino. It's so we have stability at C. Shift Nuge over to LW. He can fill in on C for injuries, when someone gets kicked out of the faceoff circle, etc. Kovy is that sniper for the PP and Connors wing. Hamonic provides that right shot for the 2nd pair and Reggie finally has that D partner that makes him even more effective.

Let's sign Kovalchuk for 1 year at 2M and then trade our 1st in 2019 for Bergeron and 2nd in 2022 for Keith. I think that's a good plan!

Surprised not to see Russell in people's lineups. Dude has character, grit, one of the best shot blockers in the league, a good skater and passer. He deserves a new contract with the Oilers.

Btw, I have to laugh at the dream rosters I've seen so far. A few of you are setting yourself up for disappointment. lol

I'm sure Chia will get a new offensive defenseman. Green, Barrie, Shatty, Dumba.

I don't know the cost. I like the idea of getting Green because I've seen several Wings fans be open to a Green-Eberle deal. Barrie probably needs RNH going the other way, and even though Barrie would be my favorite to get, I'd like to keep RNH. I love the idea of adding Hanzal, but he might be too costly.

Adding Kovalchuk would be great, and again, the appeal there is that it seems their fans are okay with trading him for Eberle. But, if we're talking realistic, I think we should be able to add a RWer in the vein of Sharp, Iginla, Jagr, Williams, Doan or (gasp) Hemsky. The appeal there is that we could sign any of them for only 1 year, leaving a clear path for Puljujarvi to ascend.

and I've fine with overloading the D by re-signing Russell, and seeing how things shake out in camp. 1 year deal only on Russel though.

70M cap hit without extra roster players. 12M coming off the books in Emelin, Green, and Letestu for 2018. We'd really need to win a cup in the next two years to justify those moves. Flame away haters but I'd go all in.
