as a chinese-american, i can state the obvious

it's gotta be tied to Charles Wang being Chinese

it's also probably my bias as to why i kinda have a soft spot for sparky
At first I thought it was a European style dragon but it does have the long snoot of a chinese dragon so you could be right.

Or they were cheap and found a cheap gator mascot costume and added horns to it.

The way this season has gone I'm reluctant to get too optimistic until they can start stringing a few good outings together.
Yeah can we see two good games in a row before we start talking about six and seven? We haven't seen two sixty-minute games 'all year' much less in a row tbh.

Next three games are very winnable and then the team goes on a 4 game western North America road trip. Would love to get 3 wins.
Tonight's 'winnable' game is against a team that doesn't have a regulation loss in its last seven fwiw

Before I answer, who's playing in goal for both teams? :sarcasm:

If it's Sorokin against Vitek...that's pretty shaky. If it's Varlamov against Akira, we should have a better chance lol

If there's anger playing Vitek against the Rags a week and half ago, starting him against a team who has 0 wins against as a Devils starter v Isles should be even better. Blackwood+Schmid have 2 wins the last year against them

We won with him last game tho?

I’m sure it had a lot to do with him and not because we scored 7 goals and had the best defensive effort in the last 20 years.

I’m calling Vanecek “Fetch” moving forward because the organization seems intent on making him happen.
At first it seemed more like it was about punishing Schmid than being loyal to him.

But he didn’t even get to play this much last year when he was actually playing well, until Blackwood got injured for 6-7 weeks.

They sat him to play Blackwood two games in a row in the middle of arguably his best 3 game stretch as a Devil.

And we were told it was because Blackwood had played well historically against Vancouver lol.

That sure doesn’t seem to matter when deciding which goalie played the Rangers this year. We didn’t play the goalie that’s 4-1 with a .951% and 2 shutouts.

Or do those not count because he has yet to face them in the regular season and those are all from the playoffs?

Hopefully Ruff and Vanecek don’t get a long leash here longer than they should based on last season. Because the early returns on that are not looking good.

Actually, it was even before last year concluded that Vanecek outlived his usefulness. Hence: why he was put on the bench for much of the playoffs.

Vitek at this point is like that cop that killed Chrissy’s dad on the sopranos. When he retired, he wasn’t useful anymore and they let Chrissy whack him.

He hasn’t hardly had any good games this year where the team didn’t play outstandingly well.

If the team plays so-so he’s a lock for 3 or more goals against. Even when the team plays decent he’s sometimes a lock for 3 or more.

If he sucks tonight then they need to rip the motherf***in band aid off like Edmonton did with Campbell.

I’m not suggesting waiving him. Im suggesting keeping him on the bench other than once a week max and letting Schmid work out whatever he needs to.

The least amount of shots we allowed all year last year was 17 (against the Isles, Hawks and Jackets). We allowed 12 last game. This team is capable of playing sound defensive hockey.
