I don't know...still pretty whiny if you ask me.

But heres the thing....none one did shit about it. He didn't stand up, his teammates didn't stand up for him, they didn't take the game over.... nothing.

He just whined on the way to losing an important game.

Not a good look.
Right after arvidsson elbowed him, Toffoli gave him a cross check and Jack went after him immediately.

Jack's accomplished nothing in this league and he's never played a full season healthy at an elite level. He is a guy with the kind of frame that can get leveled and change his career in an instant. Once you've done what Kucherov or even a tool like Ryan Kesler has done, then it will be enjoyable when you start talking shit.

Don't stop playing to bitch at the ref.

That would be the fault of Ruff in NOT changing the system sooner 'cause if he had, we'd probably be well within a playoff spot right now.

He dragged his feet like a stubborn f*cking mustache-bearded old mule, and only several games ago decided to make a damn change.

Hell...I'm not convinced this change was on his own either.

I bet Fitz told him he better change the system or this is his final season here.
Exactly. I don't know how that poster wrote that post as a way to defend Ruff. If anything it shows why Ruff is completely ineffective. It proves all of us right that the reason we played like trash was because of Ruffs system. If Ruff was a good coach this would've been adjusted months ago. The fact he's only adjusting now is alarming. For all we know someone else made Ruff change the system. If it take a coach this long to adjust to a clearly ineffective system. What happens when you make the playoffs & your system is failing in a playoff series? Do you think the adjustments will be made? Absolutely not.

Hughes literally took a penalty retaliating for the hit. Short of going crazy and swinging his stick around like Morgan Rielly, what else is he supposed to do?

I didn't care for the whiff on the breakaway and yapping at the ref afterward, but that's a different thing.

Toughness is not the issue here, immaturity (that results in frustration and less benefit of the doubt from the refs) is.

NJ seems to be one of those teams that always tends to have goalie stress(besides obviously back when Brodeur was around)
Paying the piper for 15 years of never having to worry about it.

One thing I noticed last night was Doughty in the ref's ear EVERY single stoppage. Guy talks/complains more than any woman I've ever met.

There is just no threat at the top of pp1

Luke can’t maneuver or get shots through yet

Teams will squeeze Jack and Bratt on end halfway knowing this

That’s where you need Dougie or Nemec
I would go with Nemec. Nemec is superior to Luke in every single way.

This team is flawed in the sense that unless they're scoring off the rush they're very easy to defend. We have no in zone time, it's usually one and done. If we can't carry in the zone we RARELY win a puck if it's dumped and chase.

The officiating last night was really bad. I'm not a guy who likes to complain about that but it was noticeable. LA had 6 against them I think? Could've had half a dozen more.

Arivdsson cut the shit after he got the penalty for the most part but he 100% took a penalty on Jack when they both got out of the box and Jack had that breakaway. The refs can't call everything though in a game in which they seemed like they were.

When we want more toughness from the Devils it's not them fighting the smallest dude on the other team. Jack should be able to atleast stand up for himself which he kind of did to Arvidsson after the hit but Jack physically can not take on players bigger than him which is like 90% of NHL players.

We want to see the Devils be the more aggressive team when it comes to throwing big hits that put the other team on their ass when they have the opportunity. 8 times out of 10 it's a Devils player getting put on their ass from a big hit and the team doing to little to late to retaliate. Yeah it's good to be disciplined but at the same time it just blows my mind how intent they are getting bullied. I guess it kind of shows that the top 6 aside from Meier lacks real size and bight. Its where the roster construction really falls up short some games.

The Kings gifted the Devils numerous powerplays off of their undisciplined penalties that we just couldn't take too much advantage of and that's why we lost. The powerplay struggling has cost them a handful of wins quite easily.

I think it's line specific. According to the fancy advanced numbers, the third line with Palat, Nico, and Bratt was very good. Similarly, the fist line with Jack and Toffoli were very good. It really seemed to fall off after that. In a different game, Bratt or Palat or Hischier connect on a few of those chances or maybe Jack puts the puck into the empty net. The second line with Meier and Mercer seemed to struggle which didn't help things but I don't think it was as simple as having no chances without a rush since for all intents and purposes they had no rush chances last night but still managed almost 30 shots.

You're spot on, Sid did this stuff constantly when he was younger. I don't know when he matured enough that it stopped, but to his credit, it did stop eventually.

I didn't watch enough Pens games to know this. Did it affect his play on the ice when he had those tantrums? From what I remember and saw, it didn't really.

I'd imagine "people" would step in and make sure adjustments are made after games. But adjustments need to be able to be made in game. Can't just lose games cuz the coach can't adjust for shit

Funny enough, sustained pressure and hard forechecking in the OZ is how you beat a 1-3-1 (or one of the ways anyways). A 1-3-1 is the perfect counter to a team that likes to score off transition.

New Jersey(No Fanz!)

Still doesn't change my viewpoint that it's the words of an arrogant kid that needs to mature more. :dunno:

He needs to understand that in Hockey, there are dickheads who pull this sh*t.

For example, Brad "Rat Faced Poo-Poo Head" Marchand is a very talented player but he throws elbows and does other dirty sh*t.

Not everyone in the NHL will play the game straight-up.

He had the chance for the ultimate burn when he was hooked on that breakaway out of the box. It was a sharp angle but he whiffed on the rebound with a lot of empty net. I think that pissed him off more than anything.
