Chris Tanev wouldn't even make Canada's C team. He's hardly a top 4 dman on a contending team nevermind making the best roster in the world.

Players I do NOT want to see on Team Canada...

Tavares
Dougie Hamilton
Stamkos

Marner - maybe as the 13th forward.
In what world is Marner not on this team? Hate on the Leafs all you want, but open your eyes. Guy is an elite playmaker and penalty killer. There is literally no reason that he won't make this team.

Imagine pacing back to back ~105 point seasons and someone saying that you aren't good enough to be on team Canada lol

Also, good chance Eichel doesn't even play in the Olympics.

USA predictions-

FWDS:
Kane-Matthews-Boeser
Gaudreau-Eichel-Wheeler
Guentzel-Larkin-Miller
M.Tkachuk-K.Hayes-Pavelski
EX- Pacioretty, Trocheck

DEF:
Q.Hughes-Carlson
Werenski-Jones
McAvoy-Petry
EX- Suter/Slavin

GOALIES:
Hellebuyck
Gibson
Bishop/Demko

You're missing current Norris winner and American defenseman Adam Fox, which I'm sure would only benefit from the Olympic surface.

The chances of Quinn Hughes playing over Jaccob Slavin ought to be very small. Team USA has no need for offensive specialists when they have so many guys that can kill it at both ends. You're also missing Adam Fox. Expect something more like this:

Slavin - Fox
Werenski - Jones
McDonagh - McAvoy
Carlson/Petry

I'd be fine with Marner in the bottom six. But I agree that Tavares, Stamkos, and Hamilton are too one-dimensional to be useful here. They just displace better players.

I just gave it a quick lookover. Brodin is Swedish.

Your Russian team is missing Kucherov, Radulov, and Zub, all of which will play at the top of the lineup. I expect both Zub and Gavrikov to play big minutes.

Yes it is. Can't believe I forgot Kuch actually, think I messed him up with Kaprizov. Could have sworn Brodin was Finnish, their defense might be an adventure.

Brodin is Swedish. Most probably Jokiharju will be one of our TOP6 D. Other options are Nutivaara and Mikkola. Maybe even Vatanen.

I would say Granlund will be one of the forwards and most probably wearing C, atleast A. Fun fact: Granlund and Donskoi are born 1992 and they might be eldest forwards in our team. If Haula is in, then him (born 1991).

I would guess something like this:

”TEAM TORILLE”
Donskoi - Barkov - Rantanen
Teräväinen - Aho - Laine
Kapanen - Hintz - Granlund
Armia - Kotkaniemi - Kiviranta
Puljujärvi
(Kakko, Haula, Lehkonen)

Lindell - Heiskanen
Määttä - Ristolainen
Nutivaara - Jokiharju
Hakanpää
(Mikkola, Välimäki, Lehtonen)

Sweden & USA are stacked. They should be able to skate with Canada and I prefer both their blue lines to what Canada will bring.

Russia & Finland lack high end talent in a few spots (Russia at C & Finland at D) but can definitely compete with Canada if things go right.

I'd take a look at the other rosters... Canada is definitely a favorite for Gold but, outside of match with China, the games should be close. If Russia, US, Sweden or Finland beat them in an elimination/medal game I wouldn't even say it is a big upset.

Team Sweden covid roster: (28 players)

"Giving Dahlin - Karlsson a chance early on. Bottom players can enter team seamlessly at the slightest slip from players on higher lines."

Filip Forsberg - Mika Zibanejad – Elias Lindholm
Gabriel Landeskog – Joel Eriksson Ek - Elias Pettersson
Rickard Rakell - Nicklas Bäckström - William Nylander
Viktor Arvidsson - Mikael Backlund - Patric Hörnqvist
André Burakovsky - Alexander Wennberg - Jakob Silfverberg

Rasmus Dahlin - Erik Karlsson (swedish nightmare, but for who) 20 mill pairing?
Victor Hedman – Jonas Brodin
Oliver Ekman Larsson - Hampus Lindholm
Mattias Ekholm - John Klingberg
Adam Larsson

Jacob Markström
Robin Lehner
Linus Ullmark
Filip Gustavsson

Canada is the rightful gold medal favorite but not overwhelmingly so. I think you are really underestimating the talent on the other teams.

Swedish team I would probably go

Landeskog – Zibanejad – W. Nylander
Forsberg – Pettersson – Hörnqvist
Burakovsky – Bäckström – Höglander
Eriksson Ek – Backlund – Lindholm
W. Karlsson

Hedman – Klingberg
Brodin – Ekholm
Dahlin – A. Larsson
Boqvist

Markström
Ullmark
Lehner

Not interested in: E. Karlsson (San Jose version is a washed up liability at this point), Ekman Larsson (has been suspect to say the least, the last few years), Edler (sorry but too old and slow and immobile at this point in time)

I agree with you on the defense, it's stronger without OEL and Erik Karlsson (barring a big bounce back year).

But Wild Bill Karlsson is way too good to leave in the press box. He just led the NHL playoffs in 5v5 scoring and is as good as it gets defensively. I'd consider moving Zibanejad to wing and running Pettersson - Backstrom - W Karlsson - Eriksson Ek as the centers. That's a big defensive upgrade.
