No, sorry can't say it's OK with Francis ahead of Trottier and Nieuwendyk ahead of Coffey among others.

Nieuwendyk at 24 is a reach.

Federko at 41 of 45 feels like a reach, as does Dino at 39 and Francis at 11.

Fuhr at 44 seems low, as does Belfour at 42, but that could just be the way he feels about goalies.

Totally agree about the goalies. When you consider, and I learned this recently in another thread, that only one other 80's goalie has been inducted, Fuhr is way too low. He was a generational talent goalie. (The other I believe was Smith and he played at least half his career in the 70's; the peak in the 80's obviously.) More respect for Fuhr's performances needed.

Wow, the epic over-rating of Niedermayer continues. He should be at about #30. Miles behind Chelios and Coffey.

And yeah, Nieuwendyk much the same.

The rankings are bad, but the entire "how would he do today" component is miserable, miserable stuff.

Worst parts were:

22. Al MacInnis (2007): Big shot, big size, mobile. Think Shea Weber without the nastiness. MacInnis would be a solid cornerstone in today’s game.

28. Chris Chelios (2013): Chelios was another ‘dead puck’ relic who shifted his game perfectly when offense gave way to defense. His longevity was something to marvel at playing until he was 48 years old. Chelios played well in the ‘live puck’ era, but his speed just may not be enough for today’s day and age.

Thinking Chelios started his career in the late 90s does explain his ranking at least.

Defence:

Well the 1st choice was right... After that they maybe randomly selected them? Terrible. Especially Coffey so low and Niedermeyer so high. Leetch over Coffey or Chelios? Hmmmm

Bourque
Niedermeyer
Stevens
Leetch
MacInnis
Chelios
Coffey
Langway
Murphy
Howe
Blake

Goalies:

This order is defensible. Unlike the D list.

Roy
Hasek
Belfour
Fuhr

Mine:

Bourque - easy #1
Coffey - too offensively dominant not to pick him. I rate him higher then some.
Chelios - many might place him above Coffey. In Montreal and especially Chicago was a force.
MacInnis - excellent his whole career. Never really declined at all. Strong defensively in St. Louis
Stevens - maybe best defensively of all these players in New Jersey. Except peak Washington Langway.
Howe - so underrated in Philly. He was Lidstrom like at his best.
Leetch - great offensive star with a tremendous peak
Niedermeyer - solid yet overrated. Smooth skater. At his best in Anaheim
Langway - no offence but what a defensive D for 3 or 4 years in Washington. Could have highest defensive peak of any D ever for a couple of years.
Murphy - Solid long career. Not really near the peak of these other D's but very good for a very long time.
Blake - good D with a flashy physical peak. Definitely last on this list

Goalies

1a) Roy - playoffs
1b) Hasek - best peak performance ever
Fuhr - the face of 1980's goalies. Hard to argue with those Cups and international wins. He just won.
Belfour - definite HHOFer. Really good for a long time. 4th in his generation to the first 2 and Brodeur. Maybe pretty close to Fuhr but I chose Fuhr over him.
