When you have the cap space, from a team perspective, when dealing with UFAs... There's no such thing in my eyes as overpaying. To a point I guess, but you guys get what I'm saying right?

Teams get burned by long term deals all the time. Even if a one year deal is a disaster, it's only 82 games.

Apply this theory to a goalie...we don't need someone longer than 2-3 years. We have cap space... So...

Get the best goalie that is willing to take a one year deal and give him the salary he wants. Whether its Montoya or someone else, or both. For the love of God don't compound the mistake of Pavelec with a different multi year deal.

Hutch will be lucky if he's a back-up. he will not come into camp next year as a starter, unless Chevy wants to lose his job.

The only reason that Hutchinson (or Pasquale earlier this season) hasn't had a shot at starting goalie is #ChevyLogic. And if you're worried about bringing in AHL goalies, let's talk AHL for a moment...

Both Hutchinson and Pasquale have put up better numbers than P****** in the AHL and should continue to do so in the NHL. I'm not saying that Hutchinson (or Pasquale) deserves to the starter simply because they're not P****** (although that's not a bad reason). I'm saying that they should've been given a chance to show what that they can do. Hutchinson's 1-game NHL sample is nice but not conclusive. But he (and Pasquale if recovered) should definitely be given a shot during training camp. And we may as well play Hutchinson one more game this season, since our last 2 games are back-to-back.
