Right now there is only one true superstar on either list, although Jack Hughes is getting there. Still a mediocre list of first overalls so far.

For comparison, the 6 previous years were:
Matthews
McDavid
Ekblad
Mackinnon
Yakupov
Hall

Here is how i see it ignoring 2021/22:

Makar
Hughes
Tkachuk/Dahlin
Hischier/Byram
Raymond
Laf

Makar is clearly better than anyone else here is / likely will be, while Lafreniere appears to be the clear worst of the 8, so that tilts the scale a lot in my book.

Too early to tell on the last two drafts

Then it wouldn't be a very good poll, would it?

It's not really a good poll either way, just check the results.
Very lopsided in favor of the only group with a current superstar on in.

Most people aren't going to care that without Makar it's pretty bad for the 4OA, they're going to take the group with the best player.

Why 6 years? Seems like a "arbitrary" cut off to increase #4's chances of winning.
Make it 5 years and 1OA destroys, make it 7 and 1OA destroys again.

Pretty clearly 4th's right now though.
Thats exactly what it is. Like you said, Number one clearly destroys in those other two scenarios, this one makes it far closer.

I think it may have been close it you added Matthews and Puljujarvi with each team now having a true superstar.
I do understand the premise and agree that it is a good idea, but Makar tips the scales too much IMO

Byram absolutely wrecked Tampa in the SCF. Was probably the better player in that series than Makar. His analytics were stronger in most respects.

Makar had the big game 2 but Byram was overall the best defender in that series for either team.

Easy vote for number 4 over 1 on this particular timeline.

"Why dont you make a poll where one side will obviously destroy the other?"

Seems like a waste of time

What would be point of the poll where one option destroys another?
