I'm curious...Where would Morgan Rielly fit in this draft if he were available?

Is he better than Ekblad?

I would put Rielly behind Ekblad and Reinhart. Ryan Murray would be #2 IMO.

Always thought Murray was ahead of Rielly in 2012. Still like his complete game as a Defenceman. But it is tight, you can split hairs. Depends what you are looking for in a D man. I still say Murray and Rielly are better than Galchenyuk and Yakupov.

If you want to draw it up now, I guess I would have it this way.

1. Reinhart
2. Murray
3. Ekblad
4. Rielly
5. Bennett

plays like shea weber. big, physical, leader and one heck of a shot

I see he was born in Belle River, only 20 minutes from my home town of Windsor.

I see he was very decorated and was a year younger going into the CHL...Best offensive and best defensive defenseman...Sounds like Ray Bourque or Larry Robinson...lol

...and a beast already at 6'4" and 216

He should be a stud player for team Canada for years.

I don't think he would get drafted ahead of Ekblad, who is just too safe and well rounded to pass up on. He'd go anywhere in the top 5 after that, probably 3rd to Edm if Ekblad is gone.

He's got some question marks still, alot of scouts say Seth Jones was much more of a sure thing than him. He's made some poor decisions in his play down the stretch, which is probably why Florida is hesitant to draft him and is shopping the pick.

Just checked out Seth Jones. Holy crap, his dad is Popeye Jones. Seth now has my vote.

I wouldn't say so...

The first 2 picks in this draft (Reinhart, Ekblad) are just as good as any other in last year's draft... I think he'd be ranked 3rd or 4th, maybe 2nd depending on who you ask...

I think EDM would have taken him though, maybe CAL

tough to say. i think ekblad has a slight edge over rielly IMO.

Because Ekblad is a 6'3, 200+ pound right shooting defenseman, I say no, Rielly would not be the 1st overall. Then factor in Bennett and Reinhart as high end centers and I believe Rielly would fall somewhere around Draisaitl and Dal Colle. Probably 5th overall again.

Are you asking is Rielly better than anyone available in this draft?

yes and no...Would Rielly be considered the best defenseman in the draft?...Ekblad is assumed to be the best D-man if he's going 1-2 overall.

I also wonder where he would be rated overall.
