Saturday’s game against Finland will mark the first game between the two countries since Finland’s 3-1 victory at the 2013 Four Nations Cup in Lake Placid, N.Y. The loss handed to the U.S. prevented them from advancing to the championship game- a feat not accomplished in the 18-year history of the Four Nations Cup.
Finland’s goalie Noora Raty made an astonishing 58-saves in the defeat over the U.S. and will be back in the cage on Saturday. The duel between Raty and Vetter could ignite a fresh rivalry that women’s hockey hasn’t seen outside of Canada and the U.S.. It could also determine who Stone starts on Feb. 10 when her team faces Switzerland.
