The problem with some of the Euros is that they don't disguise some of these things very well - North Americans don't dive as much, but I see a lot of illegal stickwork from them all the time, but the announcers turn a blind eye to that.

Yeah the North American stick work is getting annoying. But at the same time, you can't call if you just touch a guy with your stick, and then the problem where is the line where you call something. The NHL is trying to cut down with obstruction. Takes time.

Well, now I'm curious who Russia will play in the quarters...

Probably the Czechs. Should be an easier opponent than the USA.

But if the Russians want to win th e Gold they will have to figure out how to beat the North American teams. I still think Russia is the only team capable of stealing the Gold from North Americans in this tournament.

Regardless of who Russia will play we need to overhaul the game. Like I said it is not clicking whether there is no chemistry on the team or the lines do not have good connections within.

I still think that something can be done and we can win the whole think, but I am not sure if Ishmatov is capable of it. At this point he just talks a lot but doesn't do much.

Don´t you think that the biggest difference from this year´s team to last year´s team is defense?

Last year Russia had Grebechkov, Tyutin, Kondratiev, Koltsov and Korneev on defense. This year only Korneev and who else? It´s a lot easier to score and prevent goals when you have a mobily, steady and offensively gifted defense!

Finland, if Slovaks beat Sweden

Czechs, if Sweden beat Slovaks

Well, if the Swiss win, then one of these might be eliminated... ugh.

Also, if Slovakia wins today, then Russia finishes third not second in the pool (and the Slovaks may beat the Swedes, but probably won't).

So, I guess we'll wait n' see.

Here's to remembering 2002, when a struggling Russian team won it all after finishing the round robin with a poor record. Déja vu! Déja vu!

Here's something interesting...

If Slovakia wins today, then Russia cannot possibly face Canada in the semis.

However, if Slovakia loses, then Russia might be the team to face Canada in the semis - if they win in the quarters.

I say, let's do it.

Wouldn't it be sweet to upset Canada in the semifinals and get revenge with US in the finals?

Unless US f's it up before then - could happen - I wouldn't bet my mortgage on a US team with the kind of history of f-ing things up like no one else at this tourney.

Russia needs that semi against Canada - they usually come up with their best performances against those boys and Fleury looks very shaky and they need to exploit that. Just keep Montoya away from us - yike.

Drive for three is alive!!! (False optimism - maybe)

I think that the Russian squad needs to be a lot more concerned with winning their quarter-final game than anticipating a match up against Canada. The Russian team so far has been extremely disappointing, and as poorly as Fleury has played to date in this tournament, there should be no confusion that he is by far the best goaltender in this years tournament, and when it gets to crunch time, he'll be there.

Hey, American friends, stop whining, we did not say anything when you scored 3 PP goals in the first period including 5 on 3 PP.

And here is miss Johnson of United States <img src=http://www.plususa.com/monica1.jpg>

Who's whining? Plenty of your comrades criticized the officiating in the first and second. See ya at next years tournament, cause we aren't seeing you again in this one.

Why is that so scary. Its not like they have a picture of Stalin in their avatar or anything. Sure Lenin looked down on the working class a bit, but he respected them for what they were.

Chimy, you're finally showing your true colours...something that I've suspected all along.

Lenin did the same crimes like Stalin, there is no difference. It is only a myth that Lenin was better than Stalin ...

I feel so happy right now to be surrounded by Ranger/Parise fans!!! I think I'm going to  :yo:

I've been saying for a couple of years now that Fleury and Parise would come back to haunt any GM's and scouts who were foolish enough to pass on them for many, many years and that jobs would be lost because of taking this young man Parise lightly at the draft.

Well we know what happened to Fleury but I think that it's just starting to start for those who passed on Zack...

Mike Stuart is Captain and I believe Zach Parise and Pat Eaves have the A's.

You mean Mark Stuart? Defenseman drafted by the Bruins in the first round? Mark is the captain of the team, though, in that, you are correct.

Yeah, that was a typo.
