Still, the other teams would get utterly erased.

One NHL PPG player (Duchene), one guy who's going to push close to 30 goals (Kane), two guys who are probably going to hit 20 as first year teenagers (Hall, Skinner) and arguably the best available shutdown centre for any team (O'Reilly).

Those guys replace PPG players at this years tournament in the top-six.

Be thankful that teams don't release their junior eligibles, Swedes and Ruskies. That's all I'm going to say.

There there......want a hug?

I didn't see any excuse in that post. Canada would win easily if they had those players, but since they don't, and its a good thing the NHL doesn't force teams to release their players, then Canada, and every other team will have to make do with kids that aren't playing in the NHL.

So who's likely to return for Canada?

Schwartz, Howden, Visentin, anyone else? Gudbranson, Johansen, Connolly, and Couturier will all be eligible as well but they might be in the NHL next season.

Every time Canada loses we can hear such excuses. Hey guys - NHL this is your league, these are your rules! and it's just up to you who made it so that the clubs interests prevail over country's.

Again, the post was a response to a European poster lamenting that NHL teams don't release junior players like the SEL and KHL do.

There is no excuse making here. Just pointing out that he should be glad NHL teams don't release these players.

For Canada here are my guesses:

NHL:
Seguin
Skinner
Gudbranson

Forward Locks:
Couturier
Connolly
Howden
Schwartz
Johansen
Nugent-Hopkins

Likely to be there:
Puempel
Toffoli
Gallagher
Bournival
Huberdeau
Smith-Pelly

Competing for the last 2 - 3 spots:
McKegg
Nicholls
Cantenacci
St. Croix
Thomas
Watson
Lessio
Ross
Hamilton

Defence Locks:
Gormely

Likely to make it:
Murphy
Murray
Siemens
Hamilton

Fighting for the last couple spots:
Pysyk
Musil
Silas
Petrovic
Reinhart

Goalies in contention:
Visentin
Anderson
Pickard
Brittain

Forward position if going to be very competitive. With 4 - 5 returning forwards, and many 92's who are solid but not outstanding its going to be interesting. I would also not be surprised if a guy like McFarland finds his way in, like Esposito and Cizikis did in their final years

Looks like a roster that could happen. It's decent but will have to rely more on teamplay than blowing us away with supreme skill.

We would need some players breaking out this season to really give us some extra oomph. Would love to see the guys in the first line have a great SEL-season, would also like to see highly skilled youngsters have some mini breaktrough in Elitserien and make that team, like for example Collberg or Pontus Ã…berg.

I wouldn't be too surprised to see Patrik Norén have a major breaktrough playing for Leksand and take one of the offensive spots.
Petter Granberg could perhaps challenge for a spot as a shutdown d-man (allthough I personally never been so high on him).

I think Russia will have the most balanced team for as long as I can remember. Quiet a few of them are underagers but they deserve to be at WJC.

This year, I think that talent level is similar to Bure, Mogilny, Fedorov era. Maybe I'm over-hyping slightly, but I truly think the potential is there.

When Malkin and Ovechkin played, the teams weren't very well balanced and had the few dominant players but lacked firepower on deeper lines. I don't think that will be the case this year.

Marchenko out for 4 months after a knee surgery. Probably the biggest loss Defensively for Russia this year as he will probably miss the WJC. I hope he makes a miraculous recovery ahead of time, but that sounds unlikely.

Team Finland is gonna have a pretty nice roster if our best players are healthy.

Ma. Granlund - Mi. Granlund - Pulkkinen
Donskoi - Salomäki - Armia
Ikonen - Ruuttu - Aaltonen
Partanen - Salmivirta - Barkov
Teräväinen

Määttä - Ristolainen
Pokka - Riikola
Hakanpää - Fagerudd/Auvinen/Lindbohm

Aittokallio
Gibson
Perhonen

Very young roster but the skill is right there. Ikonen will surprise many many people. Perfect player excluding size.
