What Stroman says publicly annoys me as much as anyone but I'm good letting this one pass. Seemed more like him talking up Bo and Vladdy than him asserting his Stroman GM mode and saying they should actually be there right now. I don't think he was trying to criticize Atkins not starting them in the majors even if it may have come off that way.

Agreed. Based on Stroman's past history on social media, I don't think his comments are controversial.

Saw a projected rotation from the game on the weekend that i would agree with; Happ, Sanchez, Estrada, Stroman and Garcia. Pretty much giving the Yankees different looks every day from finesse to power.

I am sure Gibby would prefer to go with as many right handed pitchers as possible when facing Stanton, Judge and Sanchez but with a 4 game series 1 lefty had to get in and it is better to be Happ than Garcia.

Predicting the Blue Jays' opening day roster - Sportsnet.ca

Pitchers (12):
John Axford
Danny Barnes
Tyler Clippard
Marco Estrada
Jaime Garcia
J.A. Happ
Aaron Loup
Seung-hwan Oh
Roberto Osuna
Aaron Sanchez
Marcus Stroman
Ryan Tepera

Catchers (2):
Luke Maile
Russell Martin

Infielders (7):
Aledmys Diaz
Josh Donaldson
Danny Espinosa
Kendrys Morales
Justin Smoak
Yangervis Solarte
Devon Travis

Outfielders (4):
Randal Grichuk
Curtis Granderson
Steve Pearce
Kevin Pillar

I can see this happening this would likely be my predictions as well though i would swap Gift with Espinoza just as my prediction. I would be very happy if Espinoza makes the team with Diaz as the starting SS and Solarte as the primary utility guy.

not that the rotation order means anything, but I'd give Stro the extra day of rest, have him start 5th, even though he's really our #1, and then the rotation will Stroman-Happ-Sanchez-Estrada-Garcia going forward.

I bet Diaz starts SS. Solarte and Ngoepe are bench players and Espinoza stays with the team as a middle infielder in AAA.

Solarte is the guy who starts when Travis/Donaldson get injured/need a rest. I expect he'll get at least 50 starts this year, maybe up to 80.

I only see Espinosa staying if he starts while Tulo recovers. Diaz still has options.

I wonder what the attendance will be like till both Raps and Leafs are done? I think we'll see lots of nights in April and May with under 20,000 people as long as at least one of Raps and Leafs are still alive.

today's game has Espinosa at SS and leading off, Ngoepe at 2B hitting 8th, so that might be a clue.

that being said, Espinosa does have an error today.

I imagine he'll be closer to 100 starts, and 120 or so games.

wha?

Perhaps. Though it should be noted both teams were in the playoffs as late as May last year, and it didn't effect attendance.

Mind you, that was coming off of an ALCS.

You're guess is probably more accurate. I was trying to be optimistic;)

Not trying to be pessimistic. Its what's best for the team :).

I could find 110 starts for Solarte, even under the unlikely scenario everyone is healthy. Every fifth day at 3B, 2B, SS and 14 at 1B, all with the incumbent starter either taking the day off or DHing.

He's unlikely to play much, if any, short. Gibby has said that and his history indicates he's not all that reliable there either. More reasonable that even if Tulo never played a game this season that the innings at shortstop would be eaten by a combo of Diaz and Espinosa.

The Dirty's line today:

6.1 IP, 2 hits, 1 ER, 0BB - 4K, 13 ground outs - 1 flyout against the Braves starting lineup (less Acuna). 72 pitches, 42 of them strikes.

His history there is perfectly acceptable (+1 in 199 innings last year). It's just... tiny.

some pretty stiff competition for the bullpen so far.

Tepera better watch out or he might lose his spot.

Considering it's spring training stats over 6 innings, and Tepera was Gibby's most trusted 8'th inning relief pitcher last year he doesn't have anything to worry about.
