Serious post, I almost wish that was what happened. Broken ribs heal so much more quicker and less painfully than torn cartilage. I tore the cartilage between the six and seven rib last year and 4 months later I was still feeling it.

Same. I did an ironman challenge one time in the army. About a day later I come out of the shower and BOOM. Barely could breathe or stand up from the pain.

Well I bruised/cracked my ribs last week playing hockey. It's the most annoying ****ing injury. It just won't go away. I feel better and then one movement puts me back in some serious pain. So I don't even want to think what Lovejoy went through. Gotta be painful to be out that long.
