my initial thoughts are that this is a weird deal, Oregan doesn’t seem better than MDZ

Edit: actually MDZ isn't that great either, shocker lol

Smith had his chances. I think this is the correct time to move on.
Good luck to him.

Acquiring a skilled Center for a depth checking line player may help improve the offensive atmosphere in Grand Rapids. Which has been a bit of a mess.
WHat they really need is a goal scorer. Wonder why Stevie didn't re-sign Barber.

He's not an NHLer, but he's always been an AHL star.

Smith was regressing at a rate of knots so happy for this move.
Somewhere along the way, he quit playing hockey and decided his only job was to punch people. Not sure if it was Blash/Fester, or how he perceived his own worth in the NHL.

I hope he realizes an AHL enforcer still makes more money than a regular day job.

AHL moves.

Don't lose your sleep because of this.

My first post was more tongue-in-cheek. It makes sense on paper. I know it doesn't tell the whole story but -21 in 19 games is terrible from Smith. On the flip side, O'Regan would be 3rd highest score on the Griffins.
