He has had a very long career which will help him but i personally think he is right outside HHOF worthy but only 12 of the 500+ goalscorers arent in HHOF. If Marleau plays a year or two more he can score maybe 40 more goals(give or take) and get close to 550 goals, close to 1150 points etc.
Jagr, Ovechkin, Iginla, Hossa and Selanne(i know he has retired but its just a few years ago so included him) are among those 12 500+ goalscorers.

Does he make it?

Not likely. Plenty of better players ahead of him and he never won anything.

Turgeon never made it, so its pretty unlikely.

Also, has anybody ever had as quietly a successful career as Marleau?

No, he never stood out as an elite player.

What's the point with having a Hall of Fame if we're gonna put in every one with good accumulated numbers? :dunno:

You forgot his 4 goal game against the Colorado Avalanche on January 23rd, 2017.

Nope. Couldn't manage to put up first line numbers until he had Thornton on the same team, taking pressure off him.

Marleau's MVP voting record: 9th, 17th, 21st, 23rd, 26th.

No hardware, no post-season all-star teams.

Oh god, I read that as will Marner get into the Hall of Fame at first

No, I don't think so for Marleau. Good but not great. Only hit 80 points twice and has just been consistently a good player over the past almost 20 years.

Nope. Hall of very good. Your standard compiler

I think his got a
chance, but I havent analysed his potential competition, what other names will be inducted before him?

Guess he got a bit of a lack of NHL awards, 500+ goals in this era is very good. He got a chance.

Not likely. He just simply lacks the elite seasons. Hall of good.

Doubt it. Hall of Famer definitely isn't something you think of when you think of Marleau.

Granted, his career numbers are better than I thought they were. He has (quietly) put together quite the career.

Has a nice resume and did much of it in the dead puck era but probably won't be enough, especially with the players that will be retiring around the same time. Unfortunately the issue is clouded when guys like Bernie Federko and Clark Gillies are in the hall but others are being left out.

As for those you listed, they aren't in because they just can't be yet. They are guarantees so there are very few 500 goal scorers that are not. Until Dave Andreychuk gets in, Marleau shouldn't.
