Minnesota GM Greg Dockus got the ball rolling with his upcoming free agents. He signed forward John Zeiler to a 2 yr deal paying $510,000 per year, center Trevor Letowski got a 1 yr deal worth $810,000 and he signed top priority Patrice Bergeron to a 2 yr deal worth $3,500,000 per year.
"Given his injury status in the NHL, we feel that was a very fair deal for Patrice. It gives him 2 years to see if he has long term effects from his concussion. If he is healthy, he can clean up in two years and if not, then we have some protection for that. We hope he is 100% next year in the NHL."
Dockus still has work to do. Brian Pothier, Richard Zednik and Vesa Toskala are pending UFA's. Pothier and Toskala are definately on the "to-do" list, but it's unclear if Zednik will be back in a Wild sweater.
