From bottom to top

Just missing out:
Matt Foy
Brandon Yip (Top scoring freshman in Hockey East)
Eric Hunter
Ben Bishop (Freshman is 7th in Hockey East in GAA)

20)Vladimir Mihalik-2nd round 2005-18 years old-defenseman-6'8'' 234# Red Deer-WHL. He's huge. Chara-huge. And like Chara, it will take time, but this kid has a chance. 44games 3g/7a/10pts 61 pims

19)Tyler Kennedy-6th round 2004-19 years old-forward-5'11'' 185# SSM-OHL. Made the OHL All Star game this year. Good vision. 50Games/15g/38a/53 pts.

18)Michael Funk-3rd round 2004-19 years old-defenseman-6'4'' 210#. Portland-WHL. Another big defenseman from the "W". Picking up his offense this year. 48Games/6g/30a/48 pts.

17)Konstantin Barulin-3rd round 2003-21 years old-goalie-6'2'' 180#. Spartak-Russia top league. This lanky netminder is playing great in his first shot in the top league in Russia. 13-12-3 2.08GAA .916%

16)Kyle Brodziak-8th round 2003-21 years old-forward-6'2''194#-Iowa-AHL. Made his NHL debut this year, getting zero points in 7 games. In 27 games in Iowa, has 6/9/15 and leads the team with a plus 9. Great defensive forward and penalty killer.

15)Richie Regehr-4th round 2001-22 years old-defenseman-6'0'' 200#-Calgary-NHL. In 11 games with the Flames, Regehr is 0/2/2. In 36 in Omaha was 3/17/20 and was named to the All-Star team. Has very good defensive skills, but is undersized and, unlike his brother, isn't a workhorse in his own end.

14)Clarke MacArthur-6th round 2003-20 years old-forward-6'1'' 190#-Rochester-AHL. 6th on the Americans in scoring (depsite a shoulder injury) with 7/14/21. Not big, but talented and works hard.

13)Doug Murray-trade-25 years old-defensemen-6'3'' 240#-San Jose-NHL-Made his NHL debut this year. In 27 games has 1 assist. Is the hardest hitting rookie defenseman in the NHL. (yes, including Dion. He's not anywhere NEAR the player but he hits like a wrecking ball). Has very limited offensive upside, though he has a big shot.

12)Miroslav Blatak-trade-23 years old-defenseman-6'0'' 180#-Zlin HC-Czech. Playing well with 5/9/14 in 42 games with Zlin after totalling 12 points in all of 2005. Still undersized, but can bring the puck up quickly.

11)Brandon Dubinsky-5th round 2004-19 years old-forward-6'1'' 195#-Portland-WHL. Despite undergoing knee surgery and missing 14 games, still leads Portland in scoring with 16/36/52 in 36 games. VERY talented and gritty as well.

10)Jakub Klepis-2nd round 2002-21 years old-forward-6'1'' 207#-Hershey-AHL. Made his NHL debut, posting 1/2/3 in 13 games with the Caps. Has struggled after being sent back down netting 5/13/18 in 35 games.

9)Michel Serson-3rd round 2004-20 years old-defenseman-6'1'' 200#-Quebec-QMJHL. Was one of the later cuts by Pittsburgh this year, and after being sent back to Quebec, he has dominated. He is 2nd in the "Q" for defenseman with 16/40/56 in 43 games and is a whopping +40. Very talented offensively.

8)Tom Fritsche-3rd round 2005-19 years old-forward-5'11'' 185#-Ohio State Univ. This Parma, OH native (as am I) leads the Bucks with 9/15/24 in 27 games after playing for the USA in the WJC. Quality defensive forward with good penalty killing skills as well as the ability to put the puck in the net.

7)Patrick McNeill-6th round 2005-18 years old-defenseman-6'0'' 195#. Saginaw-OHL. I may be putting him up too high, but this one-time #1 OHL has zoomed to the top of defenseman scoring in the OHL this year with 16/44/60 in 49 games and is a plus 21 and team captain for his 1st place team. He also made the OHL All-Star team. He's a real comer.

6)Matthew Lombardi-4th round-2000-23 years old-forward. 5'11' 191#-Calgary. Since returning from an early injury, has been centering Jarome Iginla and has put up 2/14/16 in 29 games. Expect him to be signed next year, and make his way off this list.

5)Slava Trukhno-2nd round 2005-18 years old-forward- 6'0'' 190#. PEI QMJHL. I said after the NHL draft that he was drafted WAY too low, and he has shined this year. Despite missing 9 games, is 17th in the QMJHL in scoring with 21/51/72 in just 43 games. Has added some grit as well, dropping the gloves for the 1st time. This kid is going to be good.

4)Alex Perezhogin-Trade-21 years old-forward-5'1'' 190#-Montreal-NHL. Hmmm. Odd year. Started out with 6 points in his 1st 6 games in the NHL, but Claude Julien soon placed him at the end of the bench before sending him down. He is back up now, still not getting much ice time, and has 6/6/12 in 37 games.

3)Robert Nilsson-1st round 2003-20 years old-forward-5'11' 185-Bridgeport-AHL. Started the year with the Islanders, but after putting up 2/4/6 in 25 games, was sent down where he has played well (unlike Perezhogin) with 6/15/21 in 22 games. Will be a top 6 forward with New York soon.

2)Nicklas Bergfors-1st round 2005-18 years old-forward-5'11'' 190#-Albany-AHL. Has acquainted himself well as an 18 year old in the AHL. 9/8/17 in 34 games. Has dazzling offensive skills, and with a little more seasoning, will star in the NHL for years.

1)Matt Carle-trade-21 year old-defenseman-6'0'' 195#-University of Denver-2 time defending national champion and USA WJC champion. Is 6th in the NCAA and 2nd amongst defensemen in points per game. 1st in WCHA amongst ALL scorers. 11/29/40 in 28 games. Team Captain. Will be a Hobey Baker finalist. http://www.carleforhobey.com/
