Wild Adds Sexton and Future Pieces; Impressive Recent Record
Ever since Daniel Chan was named General Manager of the Wild, the team has went to a 7-7-1 record, which initially may not seem all that impressive, but one must consider that the team had only won 10 out of 48 previous games.
Ever since the trade deadline, the Wild has gone 2-1-1, including an impressive 8-3 win over the Colorado Avalanche, who are currently ranks 2nd in the Western Conference.
With the departure on Doug Murray, defensemen Matt Carle and Milan Jurcina has benefited from the increased ice minutes. Carle has 6 assists in the 8 games since Murray's depature while Jurcina has 2 goals and 3 assists.
And with Lombardi traded to the Islanders, center Kyle Brodziak was placed into the second line center position and has performed well, with 1 goal and 3 assists since Lombardi's departure.
The addition of Dan Sexton has helped as well, scoring 2 goals and 1 assist since his arrival.
GM Chan continued to make his mark on the team dealing and wheeling a few days before the deadline.

"Doug Murray gave us a veteran and physical presence on the blueline but we liked the idea of acquiring two young forwards that can provide energy and speed and that also have a promising future in the NHL"

"Spurgeon has come out of nowhere, being an unsigned draft pick, but has found a place on the Wild blueline. His hockey sense and poise has compensated for his size and, with experience, should only get better"

"One of our more controversial trades, with people wondering why we would trade away Evander Kane. The reason is simple: we thought we would be acquiring more value but at the same time, keep our movement towards a more youthful roster. We are confident that Granlund will develop into a good top six forward while Tedenby has already shown some impressive offensive abilities in his rookie season and will find a spot on the Wild roster next year"
