OT: Why is the ceiling blue at the Joe?

Hey guys,

A friend of mine went to the Rangers game in Detroit last week and he noticed the ceiling is blue. Is there specific reason behind this? Or is it just random?

I seem to remember Mike and Marian Ilitch liking the blue ceiling at some other NHL arena and even getting a paint chip to match so they could paint Joe Louis that way. Maybe the Forum? Or the Coliseum?

It's all a vague memory though so I can't say where I heard it or if there's any truth to it.
