Speculation: Who is the next Captain?

The more I think about it, the more I believe it will be left vacant. I would prefer to give it to Gallagher. However with Weber still a part of the franchise and injured, I would have to think they will give it to him next season.

Gallagher would be an obvious choice.

But I don`t know if they even need one. If it is a goal scorer like Gallagher it puts extra pressure on him when he gets into the inevitable goal scoring slump.

Weber would not be a bad choice but he`s already a target because of who he was traded for so I hope he doesn`t get it either.

4 A`s would be my choice right now.

Weber is the obvious choice (i'd prefer Gallagher) but he's out till January anyways, and once he comes back the odds of him playing full seasons in the future don't look particularly strong.

Please don't give the 'C' to Gallagher, he spends so much energy on the ice and the last thing he needs is added pressure of being captain of this team. The 'A' is perfect for him.

I don't see anyone suitable for the captain role at this time. And also, last 2 times we didn't name a captain during the season we made it to the 3rd round in the playoffs. Maybe this method is effective at spreading accountability to all players, instead of singling out 1 player to shoulder the media pressures.

I love Gal, but as much as I like him I doubt he has the ability to lead allll the team. Also didn't like how he treated Subban last year when the Preds came to Mtl

Gally is the only acceptable option. It'll probably be Weber though, he's very respected in the locker room.

I think after what happened to Pacioretty when he got the C the Habs will be cautious in giving the C to Gallagher not because he doesn't deserve it (I think he does) but he is still relatively young and doesn't need any extra pressure right now. What I think will happen is Weber will get the C and Gallagher will be groomed into the role and eventually given it next either because Weber got traded or he voluntarily gave it up.

I think the natural choice is Gallagher though Weber is a strong possibility as well. Or just give it to Pleks as a pre-retirement gift.

They players sure as hell better NOT vote this time around.

The last time that happened it was arguably the catalyst for breaking up what seemed like pretty great core at the time.

This is Prices team 100%. Give him the C with a bunch of A's to go with it.
