Someone probably will but I wouldn't bet on any particular player doing it, maybe McDavid but considering he never hit 50 goals before I wouldn't feel confident on that either, his start certainly suggest he will though. Otherwise? Draisaitl has done it twice and he is right there so if I had to bet for one player it would be him.

Gut says none. Robertson might make 50G, but he'll fall short on assists. Likewise McDavid will easily make 50A, but fall short on goals. And those are two players with the best shot of making it.

Kaprizov will do it baring injury.

His goals and assists are usaully pretty evenly distributed. Almost did it last year (3 goals short)and he started off ice cold in the goal scoring department, with only 1 in the first 10 games.

Hasn't had that issue this year. Gonna hit 50g easy, should hit 50 assists.

Some really don’t get that scoring continues to trend upwards. A handful of these guys are more likely to do it than not.

Assuming 78+ games, McDavid, Drai, and Kaprizov are stone cold locks. Pastrnak and Robertson are giving themselves great head starts. The goals will come more frequently for Matthews and he almost did it last year.

Dark horse pick is Stamkos.

I know it's pace but :

McDavid : 69 goals - 85 assists
Draisaitl : 56 goals - 82 assists
Robertson : 75 goals - 58 assists
Pastrnak : 57 goals - 64 assists
Thomson : 51 goals - 58 assists
Kaprizov : 53 goals - 57 assists
Rantanen : 52 goals - 63 assists

I don't think any other player is on pace for 50-50 actually but the guys above all have a decent to very good chance of doing it. I'd be surprised if McDavid doesn't do it. For Robertson, it will depend on his assists I think

For the others, they might all reach 50 assists so it'll depend which one are able to reach 50 goals

There's also Matthews (and maybe some others) who could enter the conversation if they start scoring more regularly. We know Matthews can do it. He's currently on pace for 38 goals and 50 assists

None of them has missed a game yet so it'll also mainly depend on that

I think Tage hits 40/40 this year. His assists are predicated on Jeff Skinner not going cold. Goals paces are hard to maintain.

Assuming health, with his start, I think McDavid will top 50 goals. He’s too good not to do it at some point, and he’s a lock for 50 assists. Likewise, Draisaitl is a lock for 50 assists and has paced for over 50 goals over the past 5 seasons, though I could see him falling just short if McDavid keeps a high goal pace, as there’s usually only so many PP goals to go around (although Draisaitl is still leading the league there despite McDavid nearly matching his total from last year already). Still voted for him anyway.

Kaprizov and Robertson seem to have solid chances at this point and voted for them, though you never know. Kaprizov is a pretty even split player and fell just short last year. Robertson has a pretty decent goals buffer but will depend on assists. Pastrnak has a good chance as well, though I think he might fall short. I don’t think anyone else is very likely

Don’t forget that things tend to tighten up as the season goes on. Normally. Who knows if that sticks in this higher scoring era.

I like the dark horse pick.

When will we see the higher scoring era die?
