It's pretty much 50/50 tbh, but if I had to pick I'd likely give Boston the edge due to the additional finals appearance, and better overall playoff success.

Regular season- Washington
Playoffs- Boston

Going Boston due to postseason success, plus they have a good chance to add another cup this year

Yea that's pretty spot on. PO success >>> RS success; although I'd probably have Washington ahead prior to the start of this playoffs tho

Washington for me
Obviously if Boston wins the cup (or even makes the final maybe) itll change to them.

I like Ovechkins individual success. It tips the scale in washingtons favor for me since the rest is pretty close.

I think if you go by playoffs, deep runs, and cups, Detroit can't be forgotten. Their strongest run was at the beginning of the era, but 1 cup, 1 SCF on top of it, multiple deep runs, and a lot of wins in the playoffs.

Because the implication is these are the top 2 cap era franchises, and I think it excludes Chicago, Pittsburgh and Detroit, which all have claims.

no, it's simply an A or B question between franchises with similar recent success....C your way out

on topic, agree with the regular season = WAS, playoffs = BOS...give me Boston because playoffs

Detroit doesn't really have any claim considering Chicago and Pittsburgh both have 3 cups. LA third since they have 2.

Boston/Washington/Detroit would be some combination of 4/5/6.

For this poll i'm picking Boston by a hair since they have the additional cup finals appearance. Another one this year would cement it.

The 8 100+ point seasons for Washington to 6 for Boston is what swayed me. In essence that represents how many seasons they were "contenders" in the era.

you need to account for the years Washington got to beat up on the garbage SE Division

Aside of their first trip back to the playoffs in 2008 when they snuck in with a late run to take the division crown, I don't really buy that. Washington went from beating up on the Southeast to beating up on the Metropolitan after re-alignment happened, winning the metro in 4 of the 6 years its existed (with another 2nd place finish). They had an awfully good record against Atlantic and Northeast division teams during their southeast years, as well. The Capitals were just a plain good team.

Right now, Washington.

Boston has been marginally more successful in the playoffs but Washington has been much more successful in the regular season.

You could say playoff success is more important, but at the end of the day, Cups are 1-1.

Only a handful of teams have been able to hit 100+ points on a regular basis since the lockout so their consistency is quite impressive.

Upon doing some research, since I'm kind of a stats nerd, here are the # of 100+ pt seasons since the 05/06 season:

1. Pittsburgh - 10 (2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019)
T2. Detroit - 8 (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015)
T2. Washington - 8 (2009, 2010, 2011, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019)
T2. San Jose - 8 (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2014, 2018, 2019)
T5. Chicago - 7 (2009, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017)
T5. Anaheim - 7 (2007, 2008, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018)
T5. Nashville - 7 (2006, 2007, 2010, 2012, 2015, 2018, 2019)
T8. Boston - 6 (2009, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2018, 2019)
T8. Vancouver - 6 (2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015)
T10. New Jersey - 5 (2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2012)
T10. NY Rangers - 5 (2006, 2012, 2015, 2016, 2017)
T10. Tampa Bay - 5 (2011, 2014, 2015, 2018, 2019)
