Only way Lilja makes team is if Milano is traded , or another trade is made to create roster space . Milano , Bemstrom and Tex will infuse a lot of skill in the lineup that’s desperately needed . We will essentially combat the loss of Panarin , by having 4 scoring lines . And Torts needs to back up his rhetoric about not over coaching , and letting the young guys play thru and learnMarkus Hannikainen has been voted off the island.
I suspected that Lilja coming over was as a possible replacement for him. Now we’ll see if he has a chance to make the team now too. Only 5 players left for a final roster.
Interesting that we’re paying Hanni an NHL salary to play in Cleveland. Hopefully he’ll get claimed but I doubt it.
Looks like Bemstrom & Milano as the final two, with Dubi off to the press box.
Agreed although I bet Dubi rotates in for matchups, etc.
I’m leaning towards Milano not being on the team. He still struggles with defending and has had ample opportunity to figure it out. I’d also lean more towards Dano over Lilja. I was just using him as a comparable to Hannikainen as a undrafted European being given a shot.Only way Lilja makes team is if Milano is traded , or another trade is made to create roster space . So your saying Milano will be lost to waivers ? A player that scored 14 g in 55 games playing 11 minutes a night , as a rookie ? A real possibility, and based on Torts past, likely ... also a possibility that the powerplay sucks once again , being that he did nothing to his staff that has no answers for 2 years straight years , and had to bring in a retired player for help, that has now indicated he won’t be doing that this year . They get off to a slow start , and Torts will be back in the television studios , as an analyst , can’t imagine Jarmo will sit by and watch talent be wasted once againThis is kind of my fear. He keeps young skilled guys on such a short leash that as soon as one of the kids screw up he wont hesitate to put Dubi in, or like you say when playing teams like Boston for example but those heavy games should be viewed as a time to learn because its closer to playoff hockey

There is also a mention in today's Dispatch about how Dubie has a lock on one of the slots in the 4th line. I know they are not ready to buy him out. But seriously, the only role Dubie is fit for as this time is as the 13th forward who gets to play an occasional game due to some unique match up role or because someone is injured. Creating a 4th scoring line is essential for this team going forward into this season.
And yet he only played 8 games last season. So your saying Milano will be lost to waivers ? A player that scored 14 g in 55 games playing 11 minutes a night , as a rookie ? I don’t see that happening
SERIOUS QUESTION
Did you watch any CBJ games during the last month of the regular season and the playoffs last year??
The "quickness" or "jump" in his legs is clearly much better now (end of last year and CURRENTLY this preseason) than it was for a bit of a stretch there.
Its safe to assume that there was an issue with his physical preparation/fitness and that instead of like other guys not changing their ways, he has made changes to get his "game" and possibly other things back on track.

Marko Dano had 8 goals in 35 games as a rookie. He’s been on waivers a few times and been in 3 different organizations before coming back here. I’m not putting stock in Milano’s performance 2 years ago. I’m looking at how he fits now and this year. He’s not going to be gifted a spot because of offensive skilled displayed 2 seasons ago if he still struggles with defending.
I like Dubinsky. I commend him for trying to change his lifestyle/style of play to keep up with todays game. Jared Boll tried it too, but father time is undefeated and I'm not sure how much more Dubinsky has to give. He'll be on the roster this year, but I haven't seen anything to believe that he will be used in any other situation other than what he was used for last year, which was for faceoffs. I'm not even sure he'll be a lineup regular this year.
Not necessarily. They merely extended the required qualifying offer to keep his rights and allowed a proper competition to occur. The writing was on the wall for him last season when he disappeared late in the season and during the playoffs. I never said they wanted him gone but it’s pretty obvious they are looking at better options this season. If he goes unclaimed he’ll be solid depth in Cleveland but otherwise he’s gone the way of the Sedlak. They resigned Hanni this summer. If they knew they were replacing him they wouldn't have done that.
.
I only heard a brief bit of yesterday after I finished on the golf course but the brief time I listen he sounded like a defensive liability again.I agree it's not about what happened a couple years ago. But Milano is a lot stronger on the puck now and has been the Jackets most potent weapon in the pre-season (I suppose until yesterday, didn't see it).
