First off i am sorry i only voted once i misread the poll. The probelm with this poll is it dosn't take in the fact of the cost I mean depending on the cost i love ladd (who i voted for) but if hes costing to much i say no thanks and down to lesser players like borque and Kulemin. There are a couple not on the list that if can we can get cheap enuff ( hemsky and erat ) I think it comes down to what we think we can spend or lose from the roster.

I would trade for them right now.

These teams would want everything and the kitchen sink and I'd make it happen. Itd mean soldifying the core and being on par w chi, ana, pit, etc. We'd be unstoppable.

For benn, dal would want:

Brown/williams, voynov, toffoli, pearson, vey/zykov and our 2014 1st. I pull the trigger on that.

...and who would be playing on your 2nd defense pairing?

You would give up 2 roster players, 3 prospects, and a 1st for Benn? :help:

From many accounts on here, MacDonald is just an absolute liability. From what I've read, he's similar to Muzzin but with better offense.

Really? Thats very surprising to me, I'd thought he was a reliable minute eater. If he's not then never mind, my vote's unquestionably for Girardi.

Ultimately though I think its very important to address our defense sooner rather than later. Our defenders need to become younger and more viable for more than a year or two before needing another retool. Scuderi left, now Mitchell and/or Greene might, Regehr probably the year after.

We need somebody who can log more minutes than Greene, who isn't as old as Mitchell, and who is or will be under contract longer than Regehr.

Moulson makes the most sense. I read yesterday that Calgary can eat half of Cammy's salary if they trade him making his cap hit a lot more friendly to the Kings.

Moulson and Girardi

I've been onboard for months to make the move for both. What it takes will be steep, but my belief is that trading for and signing each will solidify the respective positions for years to come.

They are in win now mode and in order to 'win now' they must fix the holes and lack of production for this season and the long-term.

I voted Ladd and other because I expect DL to make to additions (maybe in one deal, but two players).

The Kings still seem to be targeting/needing a goalscorer and Ladd can score. Maybe not 40 goals, but he should be good for 25 a season, is in his prime years, and is locked in for two more years at $4.4 mill cap hit, something we can make work in future years as the cap goes up.

DL deems to prefer trading for guys who have a potential future in LA, not just renting them, at least when it comes to larger pieces (Carter, Regehr...) so trading for a guy under contract would fit his MO. Plus, Winnipeg has to be thinking about doing some deals. I like Kane too, but I do question the baggage he seems to carry (Holden I think disagrees with me here, but I do find some of his reported actions immature which really wouldn't fit in well with DL/DS). Ladd seems to have more of the 'character' DL speaks of, and his age and contract would mean he'd be in the 'core' for a while longer.

I also expect DL to add a D-man to the team. Mitchell has held up surprisingly well, but between him and Greene, there's always an injury concern. Regehr isn't young either and those three comprise our three most physical D-men, so I can see DL trading to add a stop gap to the team, or maybe even a long-term solution if he plans to let Greene and/or Mitchell test UFA. I'd assume a stop gap would make more sense though, so (and again, bucking Holden's thoughts) someone like Mark Stuart in Winnipeg might be a reasonable add. UFA after the season, likely could work him into a Ladd deal somehow.

Shane O'Brien, Nick Schultz, Tallinder, Mike Weaver, Brian Strait could all be lower cost options for a stay at home type, some with a physical upside as well.

No one is even thinking about a veteran goaltender, but even if it's for Manchester, they need one more for the remainder of the season. It would SUCK to have the Monarchs complete the regular season, and go into the playoffs with only Berube (Niederberger: not ready)... Certainly don't need a "prospect," or anyone who would need major NHL experience, but the way Nashville signed Hannu Toivonen for Milwaukee, and then went out and got Dubnyk, they have a goalie glut in the AHL when Rinne gets back (soon)... Hellberg, Mazanec, Hutton, Toivonen and Darling...

So, just throwing this out there. With the Preds most likely well out of the playoff picture, a guy like Viktor Stalberg, or a guy like Colin Wilson and Carter Hutton (he, for Manchester) could possibly be in the mix as well...

There's a lot interesting names on that list. Players that would look good in the lineup. Well, on paper at least. I voted other for a true PP Specialist. Someone who can take charge, control the puck and make it happen. I dont necessarily see that guy on the list. Could be a guy like Ray Whitney, if he can still do it. I haven't seen him much this year.

I doubt minor changes (one or two additions) can really change the scoring fortunes of the Los Angeles Kings. It's more about the style of play. The Kings aren't a rushing end-to-end type of team. Breakaways, odd-man rushes are rare. I think it would require a change in culture ... including, perhabs starting with, the coaching staff ... which is not going to happen.
