In the era of this current playoff format, a 3rd place/WC team has made it to the Cup Final each time

2014- Rangers/Kings were both 3rd place in their respective divisions (And the other conference finalists, Montreal/Chicago, were also 3rd place in their divisions)

2015- Blackhawks were 3rd place in the Central Division

2016- Sharks were 3rd place in the Pacific Division

2017- Nashville was not only the 2nd WC team, but they had the fewest points of the 16 playoff teams

Which team has the best chance to make it 6-for-6 in that department?

LA Kings easily. This is still the core that won 2 cups.

Vegas is so vulnerable in round 1. And SJ/Anaheim seems more of an even matchup to LA than an underdog. Their path is wide open

Toronto is a pretty good team overall but they have arguably the toughest matchup to the conference finals.

If CBJ ever figures out that powerplay...they have a good shot at winning it all.

Don't say anything at all
Columbus but only because they're my team. And if they don't even make it out of the first round again, we can say goodbye to Torts. I've been saying all season that anything less than a postseason series win should result in a coaching change.

Probably one of Kings/Sharks. The Pacific is wide open, those 2 teams have as good a shot as any to make WCF in that half of the bracket.
