I think they're all staying where they are for the most part, except for Brooks and Walker. They're the two that raise the question: Who's going where?
Brooks is a centre, and a skilled one at that. Smith might be KHL bound, Arcobello is already SC Bern bound and Nylander is NHL bound. That potentially leaves 3 holes at centre that you need to fill. You can have Gauthier at 3C and 2C on a bad day. So really, you need 2 Top 6 AHL centres and a Bottom 6 AHL centre. I think they're set at making Cameranesi their 4C, so now you need to look at the Top6 spots. I think Brooks fits right in as a legitimate 2C option on the Marlies IF you acquire a proven AHL scorer. Someone Arcobello-esque. I've been saying it for a while, Andy Miele is my option there.
Now, Jack Walker. He's a converted D-man who skates like Kenny Wu and plays a hard 2-way game, with flashes of offensive dominance. Is he AHL ready? The question rises because unlike centre, the Marlies don't need LW depth. They don't need RW depth, they don't even D depth. So Jack Walker needs to think, "What can I learn from another year in Junior?" He played with another pick in Bobylev who will be going back to Victoria for another year, so I think it's a pretty shut case that, despite being a LEGITIMATE overager (I know there's debate over that term) he will be in the WHL to maybe add some pounds and work out the kinks in his finishing ability that apparently exist.
I mean, look at this:
Leipsic - Miele - Brown
Kapanen - Brooks - Johnson
Timashov - Gauthier - Lindberg
Clune - Cameranesi - Piccinich/Wong/Conacher
Hope this makes sense
(I think an argument could be made that he could play on the 4th line with Clune and have spot starts on other lines, since Sosh did that for about the entire year.)
