I'm gonna admit right off the bat that this is a homer call and I don't see anywhere near as many out of market games as I see Jets games (pretty much every single one either in person, live on cable or worst case scenario PVR'd.
If the award is truly awarded to most valuable on his team I can't see how he doesn't finish top 3.
Here is my case,
Number #6 in scoring. 20 pts more than next closest teammate. Team is 5th in the league after being crap the last 2 years. Switched to Center for a quarter of the season while our #1 C was down and led the team to a 11-3-2 record. 4 of our top 9 F are under 22 years old.
How can you be any more valuable to a legitimate Stanely Cup contender?
Kucherov has an all star cast. Same with Malkin.
Mcdavid's team is way out of the playoffs and Johnny Hockey's team is barely holding on. Giroux should gets look but he has a fairly good veteran supporting cast and they may not even make the playoffs.
How does he not finish top 3 and frankly win the trophy at this point.
