That was the 2014 Canadian Olympic team. NHL players are playing in 2026. What is your favorite's country's 2026 Olympic team?

Czechs are still below par in 2026

G
Dostal
Mrazek
Vlejmelka

F
Pasta
Zacha
Necas
Chytil
Kampf
Palat
Lauko
Hertl
Zadina
Kulich
Kubalik

D
Hronek
Jiricek
Gudas
Rutta
Svozil

Still a work in progress and guys like zadina, lauko or kubalik may be back in Europe. Chytil may be retired.

And Czechs will bring euros .. so expect names like kaut or sedlak or galvas and Kral in 2026 to fill out the roster.

Hoping blumel and klapka are NHLers by then.

depends what u mean by favourite. 2002 or 2010 for the “feel good” story or 2014 if you’re talking about utter dominance. I rmr before the 2014 Olympics begun, i was thinking it would be such a boring tournament to watch cuz Canada was better than every other country combined.

When it comes to a couple of names I am going a little more with what I would do than what I think the coaches will do.
Players sorted alphabetically within their positions.

G - Philip Grubauer
G - Mathias Niederberger
G - Arno Tiefensee
HM: Florian Bugl, Mirko Pantkowski, Dustin Strahlmeier

D - Leon Gawanke
D - Leon Hüttl
D - Lukas Kälble
D - Jonas Müller
D - Moritz Seider
D - Maksymilian Szuber
D - Colin Ugbekile
D - Kai Wissmann
HM: Dominik Bittner, Tobias Fohrler, Marcus Weber

F - Leon Draisaitl
F - Dominik Kahun
F - Marc Michaelis
F - Marcel Noebels
F - JJ Peterka
F - Leo Pföderl
F - Matthias Plachta
F - Lukas Reichel
F - Tobias Rieder
F - Wojciech Stachowiak
F - Nico Sturm
F - Tim Stützle
HM: Aexander Ehl, Alexander Karachun, Justin Schütz, Frederik Tiffels, Parker Tuomie, Manuel Wiederer

I could add like another 10-12 names to the forward group without much of a drop in quality. I wish we had that kind of depth on defense.

Such an interesting team. Can't argue with your goaltending choices. Will Munzenberger be ready for the back end in two years? I'm on board with the rest, especially on the right side.

I'm thinking Tobias Eder gets included in a 13 or 14 man group. 20 goals this year.. he's got a knack around the net.

The only reason I left off Eder is, that with the NHL guys we have less need of another scorer that's why I went with Stachowiak. Maybe Eder or one of the honorable mentions could replace Plachta if he slows down by 2026. Once you get past the NHL, NL and SHL guys there are many options on a similar level. And it will probably come down to who is having the best season then.
If Philipp Krauß keeps going the way he has been the last couple of seasons, he might play himself into the conversation. Then there's Julian Lutz or Veit Oswald who could be knocking on the door two years from now and like I said there are several more (Bokk, Napravnik, Fleischer, Leonhardt, etc.) who are not far off. Whoever the forwards end up being, I will probably be ok with it.

Defense is far more set for me, but Münzenberger would certainly be an option (I actually forgot about him) and maybe Pasanen too. Can't wait to see where they end up after College. I would love to get to watch them more.

I'm a big fan of Lutz and Oswald...Size and speed...

Adin could be a candidate, good call there. I don't have Fluery as the starter, he'd be there as a back up or 3rd string as insurance.

Not sure we can count Reichel yet. Hopefully he will bounce back, but I am worried.
Perhaps Szuber can punch through with the Yotes.

Gawanke must be playing really poorly to not get a sniff from the Sharks.. I don't understand it.

Reichel will be at a crossroads soon...

I assume Sturm will still be an NHLer, will he not?

Gawanke is back in Germany now. I have no idea how his performance in the AHL was, but his numbers were not terrible.
I don't think the Sharks would have been any worse if they had given him a game or two, but maybe it's for the best to have him back in Germany and the whole North America saga is behind him.
Now he can focus on becoming a main stay for the national team for many World Championships to come, I hope.

If Makar is not allowed to play in the 2026 Olympics, while conclusively being shown to not be in the country when the incident took place, I will personally start a go fund me page to sue on his behalf.

I am fine with tar and feathering anyone who is convicted and leaving out of International play anyone implicated for now but banning someone who literally could not be involved is f***ing stupid - as long as our understanding of physics is correct.

Not really my fight. Big.makar fan.

I'd go further and I have a lot to say but I will switch topics....

Czechs weren't allowed because they didn't have enough NHL d... Yet Ludvig and Arber are Czech and would qualify for a non IIHF tourney...

Hronek, gudas, Rutta, xhekaj, Ludvig and jiricek. It's not even a bad d core. Now add our NHL goalies and forwards.

And yes . I avoided the argument altogether. Maybe others will get into it with you.

This is what you get with non hockey people running the show. I haven't thought about it too much as at some point common sense has to prevail but there always is a chance it won't.
