Heh, a lot of Japanese titles outside of what I regularly play:
1) Persona 5 Royal (PC)
2) Xenoblade Chronicles 3 (Nintendo Switch)
3) Nier: Replicant ver.1.22474487139... (PC) Also made me finally finish Nier: Automata(only had the first ending done before).
Now, I also typically play the racing sim iRacing continuously but I consider that a sub-hobby of gaming.
I'm a little surprised how few games I played this year, looking back.
In terms of pure fun:
1) Midnight Suns
2) Elden Ring
3) Pokemon Scarlet
Elden Ring was the "best" game this year in terms of design and enjoyment, but I've had more pure fun with Midnight Suns (late entry - possible recency bias).
Pokemon Scarlet had terrible graphics and horrible technical issues....and yet I had an absolute blast playing it in a way I haven't enjoyed the franchise for a long time. Best 6/10 game I've ever played.
HM: Potion Permit, Escape Academy
Also: God of War Ragnarok seems pretty great, but my own motion sickness is holding me back and preventing it from grabbing me. I only played a few hours so far so I disqualified it from the list.
This year was a backlog year for me, I have yet to beat a single player game that came out in 2022. There were some I tried and enjoyed (Sonic Frontiers, Elden Ring, Tunic) but I have yet to play them enough to properly judge them. Therefore I can only really list the one multiplayer game I enjoyed:
Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel
If you're counting re-releases/remasters/ports, a few others come to mind:
Portal with RTX
Persona 5 Royal (PC)
Monster Hunter Rise (PC)
God of War: Ragnarok, Horizon Forbidden West, and Shredders Revenge have probably been my favorites from this year. Played a lot of backlog stuff though, and I also enjoyed Sonic Origins but that's just a port of Genesis era Sonic games.
