I kinda miss coaches having more personality and being more demonstrative on the bench and on the ice. Check out this video from the 1987 playoffs:


You can see Esposito high-fiving his players on the bench and making weird gestures, Michel Bergeron shouting at and praising his players, Jacques Demers losing his wig, so to speak (he was also known to congratulate each player when they left the ice after big wins), and Dan Maloney lovingly grabbing Daniel Berthiaume's head on the ice after the Jets had eliminated Calgary.

Coaches now are too wooden.
