It’s Week 6, and it’s time for one of college football’s great rivalries: the Red River Shootout/Showdown taking place at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. Throw the record books out when #3 Texas and #12 Oklahoma come together at noon on ABC. Game Day is on scene for the 119th meeting. OU is looking for revenge after getting waxed 49-0 last year, Texas hasn’t won 2 in a row since 2008-09.
Big Noon is in Columbus, as #4 Ohio State faces a still-unranked, still-undefeated Maryland and Tua’s kid brother at QB.
The second of two ranked matchups also takes place at noon, 2-loss #23 LSU and what looks to be a pretty bad defense goes to Columbia, where #21 Missouri is also off to a 5-0 start. LSU are 5.5-point favorites.
Mid-afternoon has some teams on upset alert. #5 Florida State are not one of those teams, hosting 2-3 Virginia Tech. 5-0 #13 Wazzu is on the road against 4-1 UCLA, but it is on Pac 12 network, so we’ll see the box score later. #11 Alabama is at unranked Texas A&M on CBS, both teams are 4-1. Syracuse tries to put more momentum together going to #14 North Carolina.
Coach Prime is finally past playing some heavyweights, and will get to take a trip to Arizona State - finally in prime time - and also on Pac 12 network, f*** that. Colorado is -4.
The rest of the night slate, a big prime time showdown in Athens sees #1 Georgia host #20 Kentucky, both teams are 5-0, Georgia has looked ripe to be upset since their SEC schedule began, they are favored by 15
#2 Michigan takes a trip west to play Minnesota on NBC’s Big Ten Saturday Night as 19-point favorites.
#11 Notre Dame has another tough ACC road matchup on ABC’s prime time as Louisville enters the rankings at #25.
There’s a big Mountain West matchup on Fox, #24 Fresno State puts an undefeated record on the line as 6-point favorites in Wyoming.
Pac 12 After Dark has 2 games. Once again, Pac 12 network has to steal one, the Beavs are #15 and head to Cal. #9 USC took a hit in the rankings giving up 41 to Colorado, but Caleb Williams remains the Heisman front runner, and they play Arizona in the Coliseum as the same 21.5-point favorites they were last week as the number of NFL scouts continue to swarm.
