Only if they miss any part practice, or they otherwise feel it could affect his availability in the interim. That’s the rule as I’ve seen it interpreted. They're still required to list injuries that can impact a players ability to perform on the practice report.
A QB being forced to wear a brace on his throwing hand seems like it would absolutely qualify. About the only defense is that it happened late enough in the week that it was after the Wednesday report was released and since he was guaranteed to play it wouldn't be on the game day report.

Did he do that and they didn’t list it or not list him as full after having had practiced? Suppose that’s possible. But if he didn’t miss practice, they don’t have to put any designation.
Other injuries may be reportable because of their effect upon the player’s performance despite his continuing availability to the club.
As one example, assume a club’s quarterback suffers an injury to a finger of his right (throwing) hand during the club’s first game of the season. After treatment, he is able to finish the game despite his injury. Given the injury’s effect upon the player’s performance, and the fact that he is a key player, the injury must be listed on the club’s Practice Report each day of the following week, even if the player takes all the reps in practice, and even if the club is certain that he will play in the club’s next game. In such a case, the player should be listed as “Full Participation (right finger)” in the Practice Report, but would not be listed in the club’s Game Status Report for Week 2 because the player is certain to play in the club’s upcoming game. See Section 2 (Game Status Report) on page 5. The club must continue to list the player on its weekly Practice Reports until the player’s injury no longer affects the player’s performance.
Teams don't want to release injury news because it makes players easier to target/plan for. If you know that Burrow can't grip a ball as well and thus might find it hard to make certain throws, you plan your defense a bit different. If you know Lamar Jackson has an ankle injury you might be less inclined to plan a spy on him all game long, etc.I'm confused, what would Cincy gain by not reporting an injury?
It would definitely be helpful for the opponent to not know your star quarterback is playing with an injury.I'm confused, what would Cincy gain by not reporting an injury?
There’s no evidence (yet) that he missed any time prior to leaving the game though. He finished the game on Sunday, and they probably only had one practice in between.
If an injury causes a player to miss time (game time, practice time, etc.) the team *must* list it with no exceptions. Other injuries may be reported based on how significant the player is and if it affects his performance.
A QB wearing a wrist brace on his throwing hand and then missing half the next game due to a wrist injury raises significant questions about if there was a believe it wouldn't impact his performance in any way.
The coach seemed to imply he knew nothing about the brace in his post game presser and it's possible it's something he did on his own without team doctors or happened after the Wednesday practice report was out, but I'm certain the NFL will be asking questions.

The reason the NFL pushes it so hard is because there's so much money floating around from gambling (legal or otherwise) and they want to make sure various books and bookies have up to date information and don't get upset of misleading info.
Obviously a lot will depend on how bad Burrow’s injury is, but even assuming it’s only a couple weeks, they have PIT, @ JAX and IND. None of those teams are incredible but I don’t think it’s crazy to think they’d go 1-2 in that stretch without Burrow. They’d still have trips to PIT and Arrowhead on the docket. Who knows, they’ve been a very good team the past couple years, but they’ve got a major uphill climb at this point.Cincinnati finishing 9-8
If nothing else, you can imagine the opposing defense would call fewer multiple safety deep coverages if it was known the deep ball was going to be a struggle. It would definitely be helpful for the opponent to not know your star quarterback is playing with an injury.
Right. Teams want to hide it because it can give them an advantage for their opponent to be in the dark on how their players might be limited. The NFL wasn't it all as public as possible because of that sweet, sweet gambling money. If nothing else, you can imagine the opposing defense would call fewer multiple safety deep coverages if it was known the deep ball was going to be a struggle.
But at the same time, this has nothing to do with keeping opposing teams in the dark. This injury report detail only exists because of gambling.
Also that it's a once a week game so much easier to keep track of who is and isn't playing/practicing.Right. Other sports aren't near as tied up in gambling stuff so have way more lax rules on injury reporting.

Cowboys finishing 12-5 is inevitable. They could enter the final two weeks 12-3 and I would know how it’s ending. He's going in during the last game. The curse still has a few more games to do what it does.
