If I had a nickel for every time this year a Canuck was going to get to an icing but an opposition player hit the hash marks first so it was called icing I’d be able to buy myself a nice burger. With bacon, and everything.

That sounds delicious.

But in fairness, some of it is about the way the Canucks dump-ins and retrievals often work. As much as the officials mess up, this is one thing i don't have a huge problem with. It's insanely tough to gauge some of those puck races while still officiating to the spirit of the hybrid icing rule. Without just reverting back to the old all out free-for-all rule...which they got rid of for a reason.

This is funny because it’s the only justification for the EP penalty but people quoting the rule book clearly don’t understand charging. It’s jumping into an opponent to violently hit them, not a little hop to absorb a hit.
