Playoffs are tight checking with less space and time than normal. While our skilled players might need a brief adjustment, we need them to get on the board asap if we have any chance of winning this series.

Nobody said the team had to be perfect.

It's not the back up or Pettersson. 8 shots is a team wide problem. They lack shooting talent that forces a rebound which then sets up subsequent shots. That goes beyond Pettersson.

47 shot attempts. 12 shots on net. This is an accuracy issue, not a zombie Pettersson issue.

You're glossing over why Pettersson has to elevate his wingers. Most of the wingers on this team are not valid PP options, and it's because they lack plus shots throughout their line-up.

8 shots is a one night thing.

There is nothing wrong with the build if Demko is healthy and Pettersson is playing like a 100-point superstar 100-point C.

Yes, another scoring winger would be great. But - again - every team has some things that aren't perfect. The problem for the last month or two is that we're getting zero value from two superstar players - one who is hurt and the other who has been atrocious.

If Demko is playing and Pettersson is capable of putting the puck into a wide-open net, we're winning this hockey game right now. It's that simple.

Was watching the TB-Florida game earlier, and it’s crazy how much more dynamic a player like Kucherov is compared to Pettersson right now.
He’s a fiery competitor too. Petey had that in the past a bit, but now it’s totally gone. Dude definitely needs a sports psychologist

I think if EP isn't playing like a goof, the PP would look a lot more competent. Imagine having his dangerous one time slapper on the right side? Remember when teams were so afraid of it, they'd actually try double covering him and run out of position to do so?

That's when the PP looked good. Again, every offensive issue tracks back to Pettersson right now.
I actually do remember that.

A Pettersson one-timer was our "go to" move on the PP.

It's non-existent these days.

I don't know why it's so hard for people to understand that when you have your 1C playing like an offensive black hole, it significantly affects the flow of the entire team. This is a guy getting top minutes as well.

If Pettersson is playing up to his price tag, he is a consistent threat every time he is on the ice, and teams have to adjust for that, freeing up other guys for better scoring opportunities. More offense will naturally flow not only from increased scoring numbers from your 1C, but confidence in guys around him, and more space as well.

This is one player (a player with top minutes and top PP1 time) negatively impacting the team. End of story. This is the biggest issue with the Canucks right now.
At this point just deploy Petey like a defensive specialist, match him against ROR's line and ask him to focus on D. There is just nothing going on for him offensively, and after 2 months of trying, it's not going to happen.

Free up the Lindholm line for JTM to focus on offense. Move Hog to Miller's line and drop Suter down to petey's line.

HEY GUYS IM GONNA MENTION THAT PETTERSSON IS PLAYING BAD I BET NOBODY NOTICED THAT YET
Been arguing with your shit posters all year about the OBVIOUS.

He is built for skills competitions and his contract is a massive anchor.

Heartless player.

47 shot attempts, 12 shots on net .

Putting that all on Pettersson, while a good story, just isn't accurate. It's narrative.

Ep is not a confident player right now and he is part of the story his nuts shriveled on biggest stage so far he is supposed to be your 1a offensive center hes like - how many wont win crap with that for production

I don't get why our PP sucks as much as it does, given all the talent we have to work with. That needs to be solved.
Usually coaches would have them go back to basics at some point.

"Get bodies to the net, and wire it from the point."
