</p> Two rookie goaltenders with NCAA pedigrees squared off in the first NHL start for each, but only one could come away a winner. The victorious goaltender, Mike Condon of the Montreal Canadiens, outdueled Ottawa Senators rookie Matt O’Connor to give the undefeated Canadiens a 3-1 win. Condon stopped 20 of 21 shots to secure his first NHL win.
