That's kind of random. Should be fun though, I guess.

EDIT: I had no idea the Kings have been doing this for 15 years.

Don't let the "XV" in the name of the event fool you :sarcasm:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1991_outdoor_NHL_game_in_Las_Vegas

The 1991 outdoor National Hockey League (NHL) game in Las Vegas was an exhibition pre-season game between the New York Rangers and the Los Angeles Kings that took place on September 27, 1991, on an outside rink built over the parking lot of the Caesars Palace hotel and casino. This was the first official outdoor NHL game, and was part of the pre-season schedule for the 1991–92 NHL season for both teams.

Perfect! I've been holding off a trip to Vegas. How hard will it be to get tickets, though?

A lot of outdoor games for us next year.

Well, the losses due to the lock-out have to be made up for somehow. I guess a Winter Classic/Stadium Series overkill solves the NHL financial issue.

It does completely ruin the authentic feeling of the Winter Classic though

No it doesn't. Not to me at least.

The WC is still The WC. With HBO 24/7 and all that leading up to it... it's just different.

True, but I still hope they quit with these Stadium Series and all the other crap the following season. 1 outside match per season is enough.

This game is clearly not going to be outside. It says both contests will be in the arena. As in, the one where they always hold big boxing matches.

The league hates the Rangers as a team. But that doesn't stop them from loving the Rangers' marketability and wide fan base here and abroad.

They hate the Rangers, but they love Ranger fans' money.
